But j/w, who else here suffers from them and what do you do to treat them? I don't really like to take all those perscriptions from my doctor becuase of some side effects

usually i just take excedrin migraine

I started getting them a couple years ago. This may sound weird, but try putting a banana peel on your forehead, icky side on your skin. It may help. I saw a doctor when I was in Utah who told me this. Here's his webpage, interesting read:

I pop a couple Excedrin and go to sleep. IIRC, Excedrin Migraine is the exact same stuff as regular Excedrin but with different labeling\instructions.

Mine are pretty severe to life threatening when I get them.

Most of what you read is BS, I can go into more detail if you want some info.

Basically when I get one, I cannot see out of one of my eyes, my arms and legs go numb, and it hurts to move, I've had to dial for help with a pencil in my mouth before lol.

If you want a quick remedy, drink caffeine and water in equal amounts. The caffeine constricts your blood vessels in your head and the water keeps you hydrated. I have prescription medicine for them when they happen. It used to be quite often due to stress from work etc, but it's been a few weeks since I had one.

PM me if you want more info.

I had one once I think in 1999. My symptoms were some weirdness when I tried to move my eyes from left to right. I felt unbalanced and confused. I also was extremely sensitive to light for some reason. When I came home from work, I drunk some gingerale and rested on my mothers bed, and then an hour later, woah nellie, I vomited like the exorcist. It just came out of nowhere, and hit the wall with a force I have never seen before.

After vomiting, I felt 100% better.

I used to get them bad when I was going through puberty. visual funkieness + absolute misery if i tried to move + nausea + splitting headache. would last for a few hours, then I'd throw up, then a few hours later I'd feel better. Was very bizzare to discover that taking anything just made it longer and more drawn out (like 12 hours total). so for a long time I'd just go plop down in the bathroom and wait to throw up. finally asked a doctor about it, he said to try taking 3 advil instead of one or two. lo and behold, that worked perfectly!

I still get them every once in a while, maybe once a year. not nearly as bad as back then though. I don't think I have any memories of being as physically miserable as those made me.

I had them every day for about 2 years. I haven't had them on a regular basis since last May. I occasionally get a migraine from loud noise but that's just about it now. I've been getting migraines for about 8 years now.

Yup, I get em in several forms. Sometimes a throbbing behind one of my eyese or throughout my head and neck. I've tried the deal with drinking plenty of water and caffiene when one comes on. Seems to help somewhat.

Actually, this is pretty weird but, I find it works. When I feel one coming on lately I'll sit down and pet the dog. After a few minutes the migraine goes away.
