Who here actively trades stocks?

I have my retirement $ in long term type instruments and have "play money" I tinker around in the stock market with.

Anyone else trade actively?

What brokerage do you use?

really depends what you mean by 'actively', but i guess i would qualify.

oh, and i use ameritrade and ameritrade izone.

i stick with mutual funds...probly buy or sell one every few months. I don't know enough to pick individual companies...but it isn't that hard to pick a manager that has consistantly beat or kept up with the market

I tend to follow this site: Strategy Lab I just follow the best stock picker's advice.

I'm up ~$1500 in the last month with about $10K in play money...

I play around with a relatively small amount and use Ameritrade. My main retirement account is the 401k and I opened the Ameritrade account about 4 years ago to have a little fun. This year is a "heavy" trading year for me with about 25 trades (yes that is heavy for me heh).

I was semi-active trader during the precrash go-go days. Probably did around 4-5 trades a day. Now that I actually have to work for a living and can't follow the market everyday, I do minor swing trade when given a chance but mostly buy and hold. My trade accounts are with TD Waterhouse and Ameritrade. My buy and hold accounts are with Wachovia and JD Edwards. Why? I pay higher commission with Wachovia and JD Edwards and that makes me want to trade less which is my goal for buy and hold accounts.

This is my first year of actively trading. I have a scottrade account, but realized that even at $7, i'm leaving a good bit of money on the table. I've opened an interactive brokers account. $1 per 100, .005 per share over 500

If there's enough interest, i'm wondering if we could start an ATOT stock picking thread
