Who has tried abbreviated training?

As I've mentioned in other posts before, I started an abbreviated training program 6 weeks ago (as opposed to the 4-5 times a week schedule I kept for the past 2 years). Twice a week, the basic abbreviated training exercises. In that time, I've made tremendous bodyweight gains (~10 lbs) and was wondering if anyone else had similar results? How long can I expect to keep up this rate of weight gain?

Reason I ask is because my workout partner doesn't think this rate of gain is sustainable for the next 5 weeks. Namely, he doubts that I will gain 7 more pounds in the next 5 weeks. I would venture to guess that this rate of gain is sustainable, at least over the next 5 weeks. Has anyone else had experience with this?

Heh, also... I have no idea where the weight has gone! I look pretty much the same... but somehow there is 10 more pounds on me... somewhere...

you trimmed up the fat and bulked out the muscle. Depending on how overweight you were to begin with, 7 pounds may be easily reached. I lost 8 pounds in one month after not eating pizza and drinking pop (my old everyday lunch). I gained about 6 of that back the next month after i started working out heavily. I'm 6'0" and 170 pounds now (net loss of 2 pounds....net feeling of much happier even though i don't look any different:))

Well, I was never overweight. I was always more in the "skinny" category. I'm really hoping this 10 lb weight gain is all muscle! As of today, I am 5'9, 173.6 lbs. 7 more lbs puts me into 180 lbs, a bodyweight that seemed all but out of reach 6 weeks ago. Man, I am so happy about how much weight gain I've made in the past 6 weeks. More gains in the past 6 weeks in than in the past year sure makes me happy.

If I am 180 lbs in 5 weeks, my workout partner will buy me lunch, woot!
