I'm going to be studying for these two exams and wanted to get an idea of how hard the exam is. Sure that is a subjective question, but any info would be appreciated.

later...

Don't worry, if you study, you'll pass. I need $300 from you for books.. you'll get it back when you pass the series 6.

i will be dealing only with variable contracts and mutual funds for a company i work for (which is a NASD broker/dealer). since i will only be pushing their products, i suppose the 7 isn't necessary in their eyes.

I think he was referring to yet another Boiler Room quote:
It's time to get your Series Seven books. No need to get nervous. If you study you'll pass. Then you begin trading as an SEC licensed broker. Then you're a fvcking millionaire. It's that simple. I need $300 from each of you for the books which will be returned if and when you pass the exam. And I'll need that tomorrow.

You have to put the time in. If you're not in the upper 90's on the practice exams you aren't ready. I self-studied with Dearborn and got through on my first try. If you're company requires you to get your Series 65 than don't wait too long because there is a lot of overlap between the 3 tests.

Good luck!

Which company will you be working for?

thanks for the advice - i don't think they require the 65, only the 63. i probably will end up studying for the 7, since they pay for it...but it has to be on my own time.
