I have a Zotac MAG hooked up to the 46" HDTV, runs great and it's only for browsing and playing 1080p video.

yes but it is only a htpc
surfing from the couch is a novelty you try once...

maybe someday you can sit close to a 50" when it has a 10megapixel resolution.
now, its just a 24" monitors resolution from far away.

I enlarge my browser and have no problems.
I run Internet Explorer at about 160 percent and can read things clearly.
When I use FireFox I use the nosquint add on and can actually select custom sizes for each website.

oh i didn't say you couldn't read it. win7 dpi scaling of gui makes it possible to make everything big, but even if you can read it, you are reading from 6-8 feet back, and that is unnatural by default

I have a DVI>HDMI cable that I would use along with an optical audio out, but I really only ever used it for movies. Being how I have stuff arranged I couldn't keep it always plugged in, so it's a bit of a hassle that I rarely do for gaming anymore. For movies I just stream them on my ps3.

Pro tip: If you have a computer hooked up to your TV and a laptop always on your lap, install Synergy on both and your world will be all the better.

Not only do I have an HTPC hooked up to my TV I also have a DirecTV box hooked up to another workstation in my computer room so I can watch TV on it while doing stuff on my main workstation. In an older, non-HD configuration I was using an old Sony SAT-A2 DirecTV receiver that I also had a serial cable connected to so I could change the channels from the PC without a remote.

Nice. The wireless mouse/KB I currently have hooked up to my HTPC don't work very well so this may just be a nice solution to that problem for me. I mainly use the HTPC to save HD recordings so using my laptop to control it would be a great option.

About two weeks ago I built my sister a new computer that she will pick up in a month or so. Since it had HDMI and a Core i5 processor I decided to hook it up to my 52 inch Sony LCD.

Its sweet having the ability to access the internet from my easy chair.
I sit about 9' away from my 50" plasma with my wireless keyboard and mouse.
