Who has the "wavey line" problem with their Geforce card?

I think it is more specifically Geforce 2 Ultra based cards. In my case, if I run at 1600x1200 I get wavey lines now and again, on the desktop and in games, it is not constant. Looks a bit like heat waves rising off a hot road.

As far as I can see from reading other forums this is a known/common problem, but so far no solution has been found, other than use a different resolution or refresh rate.

I would like to hear from anybody who has this problem, and see if we can solve it!

Is it interference? Is it a power problem? Monitor cable?

I have a similar problem with my Gladiac Ultra card but I only notice it during posting and bootup. The waves run diagonally across the screen. I only notice them during bootup when the screen is black. As soon as I get to the desktop they are either gone or undetectable. I thought my card was bad when I first booted up with this card in. I wonder if it is some kind of filtering crap. What were the 2d filter mods people were talking about several moths ago?

I have the problem; I thought I was the only one! Worked fine with my GTS, but I got an Ultra and now I get wavy lines at certain refresh/resolution combinations. It doesn't matter if I'm on my POS 17" monitor or my 21" Mitsu using BNC cables - it shows up all the same.

Luckily, it doesn't happen at my desktop resolution, and I don't really notice it in FPS games (Tribes2).

Are you guys seeing this on the desktop too? What resolution and refresh rates? I only use 10x7x32 @75Hz and I don't see it other than during bootup.

No, I don't see it on my desktop (1280x1024 @ 85Hz) but if I was to run it at 75Hz I think I can see them. However, I've locked out those refresh rates in my driver INF file so I can't easily test them for you.

I do recall them as being much more prevalent at 1024x768 both at desktop and games. But (can anyone back me up on this) it doesn't happen all the time, but fades in and out. I just dropped my desktop to 1024x768 @ 75Hz and didn't see anything. It's really noticeable against the terrain background in tribes... so instead I run Tribes at 1280x960, where I don't notice anything.

My Ultra is an Elsa. How about you guys?

I have an Elsa Gladiac Ultra too. Seems to be very much related to the Ultra...

For me, it appears to be when I run @ 1600x1200 85Hz, or 640x480 any refresh rate. If I run at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 it seems to be fine.

stultus - Yes it DEFINITELY fades in and out. Just as I notice it and lean forward to look more carefully at it it's gone.

I have gone through all these possibilities: overclocked card, overclocked FSB, AGP 2/4X, I/O voltage, none seem to affect it.

I guess I'll stick with 10x7x32 @75Hz then. I'm not too concerned since I'm ordering a Geforce3 tomorrow and the wife is getting the Ultra card. 😀

I had it on my Sony E400 19' w/ Geforce DDR, I have now built a new machine with the same monitor but with a Radeon ddr and the lines are still there, only at low refresh rate though. Only really see it in the bottom corners on bright backgrounds.

It's quite obvious when it happens, but you do see it more on one colour backgrounds...

I had a problem like this but I ended up figureing out that it was due to my monitor, not my card. You guys might want to test that out?

Same here. Used a Geforce DDR, a Geforce 2 GTS and now an Ultra and it only happens with the Ultra...
