Inspired by the 4-way stop poll, here is another driving question for ATOT:

4-lane (2 in either direction) divided highway and you are in the marked left turn lane at an uncontrolled intersection waiting to make a U-turn. A 2 lane road intersects. Drivers waiting to turn right.

Who has the right of way?

I believe you would, as you are on the main road. The guy turning right effectively has a stop sign and has to wait for traffic on the main road to clear.

The problem is that in most states that U-turn is illegal and the guy at the stop sign can assume you're just turning left thus allowing him to safely make his right turn. If U - turns are allowed by law then you w/o a stop sign clearly have the right of way.

Yes. Indeed I have the right-of-way, not necessarily because of the "main road" aspect, but because anyone entering a road from another road or entry at an angle where a turn must occur has an "assumed stop sign". The person making the u-turn has no such assumed stop sign, provided this is a legal u-turn (that is anywhere that doesn't say "no u-turn" (at least in florida and michigan, the 2 states where I have driven most.))
