I have my home comp set up at the foot of the bed, and I don't like keeping a mousepad on the bed, so (before I got an optical mouse) I would pick up the mouse and use it like a trackball, with my thumb underneath moving the ball. I was quicker like that than I am using a mouse the right way, and more accurate.

That is kind of strange. :)

A friend of mine (who is left-handed) once had two mice, once on either side of his keyboard...and he would alternate which one he used. Sometimes he would even use both of them at the same time, getting them to "fight" over the pointer, in essence. He's kind of a weird guy. :p

Mousepad issues is one of the main reasons I love using trackballs. I am surprised that trackballs are not as popular as I imagine they would be.

I have perfected the use of the dual mouse technic, a mouse in each hand.

I can close a window twice as fast!

:p

It's because they're hard to learn and blow for gaming. But I hear that they're more ergonomic.

Ergonomic? No way, mousing with only the thumb has the be the worst. If you want ergonomic get that damn Pistol Mouse...

Mr. Actuary I bet if I could get a leet 4-mouse setup, one in each hand and foot, I could close windows 4x as fast as I can now.

You know, that could actually come in handy for pre-XP SP2 IE users, having to deal with pop-ups..

?? Don't mouse with your thumb? Then how do u do it? Normal mice all the way. I used a trackball for 5 minutes and my hand started cramping up. I wouldn't do it

I use the first or first and second fingers of my hand. Trying to use a trackball with your thumb would explain the cramping up...

I have 2 mouses on one ratpad if that counts?

One controls my linux box (used as a server, nat box, for IRC, and thottbot), the other controls my main windows box (world of warcraft, email, web when not in WoW, etc)

Felix da cat or the neko program where the kitty chases the pointer?

Haha neither...

Altra, the Rawlings, Wyoming company developed a pointer that was revolutionary in the early 90's. It was absolute like a tablet yet had a piece you would hold with buttons that you moved in a defined area. The handle was attached so there was no puck or pen.

That thing RULED for games. Too bad mine got trashed when it was splashed on. Saltwater and hardware are a very bad combination.

If you could pull that off with an optical mouse, you'd be 1337.
