I have a P4 2.4 with 2 gig memory and a HP laptop with p3 800mhz, 256 mb which is pretty useless. Thinking of building an amd 64 based system and using the P4 2.4 for word processing

My 1.0GHz serves as all of the above (including one-time web/ftp server). Not that I really care, but I don't see why you'd need another PC for any reason... unless it's occupied doing 12-hour dvd encodes.
