I need some math done. My paltry 1800+ just isn't enough to do it. I'm not sure what would be, but what the heck. This may not even be solvable.

I need to know what....


U(3)=7^((10^85)*(4.41504*10^61))

Solve for U(3).

Is this solvable on a home computer?
 
I'm confused. Are you saying my XP 3200+ with Windows Calculator can't oust a 4Mhz Texas Instruments calculator? 😛
 
U(3)= 7^(4.41504x10^146)

That's the best I can do, the number resulting from actually raising 7 to that number is too large for my calc to handle.

Yeah, the acutal number is enormous, I'd imagine.
 
How long did you wait? It might not have frozen, it might just take a really long time to calculate. I have the calculation running right now, when it finishes I'll post the results.

Now that I think about it, don't bother.

It will be about 10^146 digits long. The very answer would take up more than a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion terabytes.

 
I killed the process this morning, if you're right about the size of the number it would have taken quite a while to finish since the process was only at ~10M RSS.
