Who has the best value ram?

what is the best value ram to get? Also is it better to get 4x512mb or 2x1gb? Does dual channel effect either configuration? Also would heat spreaders be good for the Ram if they dont already come with it?

Corsair valueram. Nuff said.

2X1GB is better than 4X512 GB.
No heatspreaders are really needed since they don't actually do the extreme where heatspreaders are actually required.

OCZ Value. 2 sticks is easier to manage than 4.
Heatspreaders are only needed with extreme voltages.

I would say most value memory from known good brands is equally good.

Agreed. Then just get which ever is cheapest at the time.

6 of one, half dozen of the other. No two sticks are going to be identical, even from the same lot. Mileage varies with all brands, I think.

I've used it a couple of times with oem machines and never had the compatibility issues everyone swore I was walking into.

I have a couple of threads going on a system I am about to build, and have managed to probably read every review available on the internet in helping to choose components for my system.

As far as RAM goes, I chose 2x1GB of Corsair Value Select:

I have owned Crucial RAM in the past, and from what I can gather, you probably can't go wrong in choosing Crucial, Corsair or OCZ ValueRam.

Most of what I have read also seems to indicate that unless you are an extreme overclocker, 2x1GB of value RAM is the optimal choice for balancing price and performance and stock speeds.
