Who Has RCN?

I want to know if the speeds are close to the rated ones.

Currently RCN offers
Basic Cable + Mega Mach 7/800
3 months for 45
after that = 85

I am using Verizon 🙁

btw Upgrade to 10/800 for 3months also

i dunno, but i heard they went out of business -- maybe at least in this area.

they replaced all current RCN subscribers in my building with cablevision and optimumonline.

:Q

also a few years ago RCN installed boxes outside of the Apts
could get really fast speeds?

i dunno... i like optonline better. 😛 do they offer it in your area?

i've never seen RCN as becoming much of a success. that's not to say people don't use them, but in my order of preference (varies on where you live), i'd go with optonline, time warner/earthlink, RCN, verizon, comcast (since the experience with comcast where it's available in south florida is apparently so horrible that my parents have resorted to crappy DSL that drops connections and resets the IP address all the time as a "better" alternative)

I have Megamodem Mach 5. But sometimes get 10Mbps in evenings. When I'm home during the day the bandwidth is lower.

The first 18 floors of the building are commercial, so maybe this is why it works better at night which works out pretty well for me.

the cable from them is also nice because it comes in unscrambled with no need for a cable box, so with my All-in-Wonder card I have a fully functional PVR.
