Who has PCI Express 4X?

The same people who would pay $200(?) for a physics accelerator. Which is someone with a lot of money, a recently-built, high-end machine, and a willingness to buy bleeding-edge computer hardware.

Soon PPU's will be mainstream, I think. While it may not be revolutionary immediatly, the PPU can easily change the face of gaming. Who doesnt want games where everything is destructible and your can interact with everything and everyone?

As long as you have a 16x PCI express slot, you can use PCI express 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x cards. Any PCI express card 16x and lower will work in a 16x PCI express slot. Any PCI express 8x card and lower will work in an 8x PCI express slot, etc..

He beat me to it.. That's exactly how it works..

Now.. were do you get one of these PhysX PPU cards at right now? Id like to see the specs and prices, maybe a futrue buy when reaonable, to me 😀

They're going to be PCI-E 4x? I would have assumed 1x (which is still twice as fast as PCI in both directions, IIRC). I only have an x16 and x1 slot on my motherboard (not that I'll be able to afford to fill either slot any time soon...). Although just about any high-end x16 video card would block my x1 slot....

I have 2 of them on my gaming system, I'm planning on running 2 PPUs in sli/crossfire. 🙂

This MIGHT work if you can get two video cards and two CPU's.. but working in conjuntion might prove difficult.. If you serious about building such a system you might want to contact BFG and the OEM of the PPU's for assistance.

LMFAO

Everywhere else seems to indicate a PCI card and the pictures show a PCI card.

I think we will have to wait for second generation to get PCIe.

yeah it will be rough on us using dual GPUs, who actually need PPUs to boost high end rigs even more, my A8N32 has 2 x16s AND an x4, but my A8R32 doesn't, so I may be waffling between ATI and nVidia

Just got to get my damn PCI-e motherboard first

It will, for sure.

Epic has been working with the physX developer kit since early engine development.

Its the first "big" PPU title.

Not to mention inevitable 20 other games that will use the same engine.

Who said they were gonna use pcie 4x? The prototype board had pcie 1x.
Its even working fine on pci, doesnt look like it needs the extra bandwidth at all.
