well i had mine working off the bat.
It was suggested that you try to install the integrated peripherals one at a time, meaning enabling them one at a time via BIOS, then let windows detect them, then load the appropriate drivers from the discs the mobo came with.

Just a thought.
1st slot-empty
2nd slot-TBSC
3rd slot-empty
4th slot-empty
5th slot-adaptec 2940
6th slot-empty

Regards!

Mine was running out of the box. Did you check the BIOS to be sure it is enabled? Go to Device Panel and see if the drivers loaded for it. If not, then you'll have to manually direct them to the folder on the CD. I remember having to do that.

Yeah, I enabled it in BIOS and installed the Intel drivers for it but it takes forever to be recognized during a reboot and will not connect to the internet. I'm gonna try to troubleshoot my cable modem tonight and see if there are any incompatibility issues with that.

Mine worked out of the box as well in 2000 Pro.

Do you have a local network available to ensure it's not a dhcp or gateway issue?

If the drivers installed ok it should be working ok. One reason you may be having is that your cable modem is not connecting to the network card is because it has learned to use the last NIC you were using. With some ISPs you have to register the MAC number of the NIC that is connected to the cable modem or you might have to do a cold rebot for your cable modem to learn the MAC number of the new NIC.
Just my 2 cents
