Who has dealt with Asus RMAs before?

I had my Asus A7N8X Deluxe die on me a bit ago and I am trying to get it RMAd to ASUS. I applied for an RMA on a form I found on their website on Sunday, but I havent heard back yet.

Who here has dealt with Asus RMAs? How long do they usually take to respond and how long do the RMAs take?

Also, I am leaving my college apartment for home on saturday and wont be back for a few weeks. I can send the board back from home, but i need to pack it up before I go. What all do I need to include with it? Just the mobo and box or all the other crap?

Thanks for the help,
Brian

I RMA'ed a GeForce 2 a looooong while ago and never had any problems with Asus. All they asked was to put the card in an anti-static bag in a box with a note explaining the problem I was having in their and on the outside the RMA number clearly written. I have to say I was impressed with the service and I got my card back within 3 weeks good as new. I've had other RMA's take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. I guess I got really lucky.

I'm trying to right now - but they rejected my board as working - BECAUSE THEY WERE ABLE TO FRICKING BOOT IT WITH A 133FSB CPU.

The issue is that it won't work with 100FSB CPUs - they don't care.

I know someone that sent back a board with a physically damaged DIMM bank - they said it was still usable. Then he went over the normal service department's heads and got the RMA manager to handle his stuff personally. I hope that guy still works there.

Call the customer service number for RMA's. Explain your situation. Send them only the motherboard, no manuals or cables.
Thats what I did.

that's pretty lame.. maybe it needs a BIOS flash... those bastages!

Never dealt with Asus but I have RMA'd a lot of Abit Boards and IBM Hard Drives. Usually is pretty easy but that's probably because both Abit and IBM have a lot of experience replacing Fubared Products.

I've always gotten replies through email within 48 hours.

Send only the board, anything else you send with it you probably would not see again.

I did it three times in the past two years. The very last time I just drove one hr. to Fremont and just dropped it off at the back of the warehouse. I just signed it in and they gave me a copy of the receipt. Two weeks later, I get a new or returned mb with no questions asked by returned mail.

By the way, the second mb they sent me six months ago was defective and they had to replace it with another one with a different chipset. What a pain that was...
