I left when my Droid proved too slow to deal with even basic tasks, and ROMs didnt improve the situation.
Used WP7 for about 18 months, then jumped back in with the Note 2. Thats about as big a difference as going from a Sega CD to a PlayStation 2.

For folks who get new Android phones all the time its probably not as noticeable a difference. I would be unhappy spending lots of money trying to find the next good thing.

FYI: I got a used Atrix 2 from amazon dirt cheap, just to mess around with. It got 4.1 and works fine. Excellent battery life too. But depending on your service it gets relatively poor data speeds. I sure wouldnt use it for tethering.
The new RAZR's get excellent battery life, but I dont think you will find too many used ones floating around for a reasonable price.

galaxy nexus is an old generation phone, i wouldnt buy it at this point because of the battery life issues. because all the new high end phones are being released in the next month, there is going to be a flood of s3's on craigs, id pick up one of those or try to find a razr m/hd.

You must be talking about the verizon version, I can't say there are any battery issues with the unlocked version that I have ever heard of.
