My secondary machine (Athlon 750@1000Mhz, 128Mb ram, Matrox G400) is running 100% stable with WinXP. I'm so impressed with it I am considering upgrading main machine from 2K to Windows XP.

ROCK stable

AXP1700+@1628/147
768MB DDR SDRAM (2*256 Crucial 2100 + 1*256 KingMax 2400)
Epox 8KHA+
2* IBM 40GB 60GXP, 1* Maxtor 40GB Ultra133 7200
Leadtek GF3TI200 @ 240/510
Promise Ultra133 Controller
SB Audigy DE
Sony 32/8/4 CDRW
Pioneer DVD 16x
SPI 350w

Usually 1-2 weeks per restart(installed some crap usually/configurations). Only forced restart during trial overclocking at beginning. Then rarely forced restart/BSOD.

I have it running on one of my home machines and on my old-school toshiba celeron 500 laptop. It is basically win2K with eye candy. I do not recommend XP home though. I you have win2k there is no hurry to upgrade. I fyou have win 9x I would recommend getting yourself a copy of XP Pro ASAP.

No problems here, except for my goofy motherboard. Once I figured out what was wrong though, it was easy to fix, and this system has been the most stable one I've owned. Check the first link in my sig for the specs.

I have been running XP Pro with my ASus k7m/Gforce/Athlon 600 system/640 mg Ram...With serious problems. From what I've gathered it is an "Infinite Loop Problem" that is associated with my Gforce & Invidia Drivers...It looks as it some of you have a Gforce...So that confuses me even more?? Any recommendation where I look next? My MB ? I believe that I have good ram(But my Asus MB has always been finicky)....???????????????????????????????????
Thx,
Ross

No problems ever w/ XP Pro

KK266R
Duron 750 -> 875-950 (depends on my mood)
FSB 145-150
Radeon LE (7200)
512MB Kingmax Tiny BGA SDRAM (2x256)
Cheapo 10/100 NIC
Using onboard sound (Cmedia 4.1 channel)
Cheapo speakers

No problems here, use WinXP Pro for lots of gaming now as well, had the famous Nvidia loop error once but that`s not the fault of WinXP.

🙂

hey Yonux, your sig says you have a set of SB Inspire 5100 Speakers!
I thought that the inspire only had the 5300 & 5700 models! 😕

I wouldn't consider it rock stable. The most stable system I ever had was my last running Win2000 on a FIC VA503+ and I am not quite there yet with my new system. However, my current setup, a 1200 Athlon, A7V133, Radeon on WinXP is getting there. I was having problems with my display and random lockups but fixed it by cleaning up my Radeon's drivers. Other than that I haven't had a blue screen since. Other than that, the only stange thing that I still have happen is that it locks up every so often right after booting. I think there may be something that I load on startup that is causing some problems, but I haven't tracked it down yet. So I'd place my system around eight out of ten on a "stability scale."

Rock solid.

P4 1.5
Intel mobo
Matrox g450 eTV
M-Audio Delta 66 sound
Pyro Pro Firewire
HP 9900ci

So stable and reliable that three out of my four systems run it, with the fourth being Linux.

I see no reason to run Win98 or even Win2K anymore.

P3 650@1001Mhz (154 MHz FSB)
Asus CUSL2 (i815 chipset)
384MB Mushkin 2:2:2 Rev3 PC133 SDRAM

Cambridge FPS2000 4.1 speakers
Coolermaster ATC-201 aluminum case with 4x Pabst 80mm fans
Lite-On LTD-163 16x DVD-ROM
Plextor 12/10/32A CDRW
Sony SDM-N80 18.1" LCD Flat Panel
Hercules 3D Prophet 2 GTS 64MB

IBM 36LZX U160 10k rpm HD
