Who has a PDA?

I've been using PDAs for years.
Current unit is a Kyocera 7135 Smartphone (Palm OS).
I use it to synch with Outlook for Contacts, Calendar, Tasks (not emails).
I also use it to play MP3s (it has an SD card slot), games, etc.

Can't live without it.

I have a PDA for work, we have software that is written for the PDA, and I support it.

It's a Palm Tungsten E

I use it for the odd little game, and the software of ours.

Other than that it's useless for me.

I have a Treo 650 which is a PDA/phone. I use it as a cell phone. I use it to track all my contacts (name, address, email). I use it to read my email during the day (Yahoo! email). I browse the web from time to time.

I have an ASUS MyPal 716 and I watch full length movies on it, play tons of games, have several hundred contacts on it, have my email on it, use it on my wi-fi for streaming audio, use it as an mp3 player, tons of notes, use it as an alarm clock, and at work I use a program that lets me scan the quality and security of all my wifi networks. And I VPN from home to work and run my terminal services client from it to attach to my servers at work.

I had 3 pdas over the past couple of years..

First, a Casio Cassiopeia E-125 - used it for a to-do list, notes in school, mp3 player... was stolen from me.

Year later, i bought a Dell Axim X5 advanced, used from ebay. Broke it after a week, crushed the screen against something when it was in my pocket. Sold the motherboard out of it on ebay, almost made up the entire loss.

Maybe 8 months ago I bought a Dell Axim X5 basic, again used from ebay. This one worked fine, and I had plenty of accessories from my old x5. I used it for mp3 playing, maybe a little bit of a to-do list... then i didn't turn it on for a month. Figured I didn't need it, so i sold it.

To me PDAs are one of those toys that you always want, but with little practical purpose. Yeah, some people have a good use for them, but i dont.

Still have my old Compaq 3650 with the single and the dual PCMCIA jacket, compared to the asus the compaq is a truck! Loved it back the the day when I had the wireless Ricochet 128k wireless adapter! Collecting dusy now. Still have so much crap for it too.
I had a Jornada before the ipaq and it was crap, traded that baby with someone here for a Radeon 64DDR and a Lian-Li case. Had several flavors of palm and sold em all except for one Vx, Still works too. I keep it for nastalgia.

My most recent one is a Sony Clie NX70v. I use it at night to read ebooks (since I don't need the bedside lamp on, hence, no bothering the wife). Occasional mp3 listening, games, contacts/appts, bible study, etc. I was really surprised after I bought it how much I actually ended up using it.

I have a Tungsten E and highly recommend it. I thought it was the best bang for the buck when I bought it. I use it an application called Pocket quicken that syncs with quicken to manage finances when I'm away from home, address, calendar, and a few games.

Still have (sometimes use) and old Sharp Wizard (with a whole 512kb of memory!). Bought it new 10 years ago for the same price the color PDAs cost now. Love the ability to add handwritten text, too. Not palm size, but it does the trick and still works.

i've got an Ipaq 3970 and I use it for contacts, tasks, calendar, a few files that I want handy, manage my finances, and also as a remote control 😀

Palm Tungsten T -- use it for phone numbers, addresses, my schedule, games when I'm bored (I've also used it in a pinch as an MP3 player, but it's dog-slow at loading files onto the SD card). Useful, but not life-changing (at least for me). Has bluetooth, so it can dial numbers for me on my phone, which is kind of cool. 😛

I had a 802.11B compact flash adapter 🙂

The Dell Axims x5s were the best, IMO.. compact flash and SD slot, while still being small and light. Stick my wifi card into the CF slot, my 256mb SD card in for mp3s, i'm set.

I have a Dell Axim X30 High, and I love it. I know the X50v is all the rage now (read: VGA is soooooo overrated), but if you can pick up an X30, I highly recommend it. Only wish it had that 128MB of ROM. I use mine mostly for GPS, contacts and calendar.

I have a Garmin IQue which is a Palm Pilot, a GPS and a map storage. On 256 MB I have most of the northeast U.S.

It works pretty well in the car.

The pilot functionality is unused because I didn't research methods to convert the phone and dates files into anything that I could use in CVS (like comma-seperated lists).

I've got a more than mildly oldschool Visor Edge. 8 megs battery backed ram, Palm OS 3.5. No fancy tricks; but Weasel reader rocks.

I have a Toshiba PDA and use it for:

Over a 1,200 contacts
Email
Calendar

I also have several MB of excel spreadsheets and word documents that I need to refer to for my job, such as price lists, estimating tools, project costs, etc. etc.

I couldn't live without it now.

i have an ipaq w/a SD slot, I use it for movies, mp3s, calendar, use it with my cell phone to dial out to the internet, i've got many games on it also, i just wish it had wi-fi, paid $170 for it

I have 2 dell axim's and have 4 in my office for other employees and the are awesome best bang for the buck

right now I have a dell x30i 624mhz
my wife has the Dell X5 400mhz and the others in my office have x3's
the X50 is a great ppc if you have the cash
i use it for outlook, internet, solitaire, multifunction remote (tv,cable, dvd, stereo)

I still use a old Palm M130 for appointments and phone listings. I have desk and cell numbers for 1,000 employees and I sync it daily to Outlook to keep track of meetings. That's all I need and all I will take time for. I carry a laptop so email isn't a necessary PDA function for me.

I have thought about upgrading to a more stylish model but held back. The old M- series have a plastic flip cover and the whole thing fits nicely in my pants or shirt pocket.

I have a Treo 650. I use it to take pics, email, IM, play games, schedule and maintain calendar events, read the bible and organize items in the pda.

Sounds like me 🙂

I am looking at getting one and would use it to read newsgroups (text, not pics), manage spreadsheets, keep appointments, and infrequently to browse the internet...I'd have it piggybacking to my bluetooth cell w/unlimited internet access...maybe more

Except I don't really have one yet 🙁

AXIM X30 here.

Used for a variety of things like navigation, email, remote control of environmental controls on passenger ships, etc.

Comes in handy especially where the XPS lappy is too big and heavy. The dining room comes to mind. My wife still says I'm a nerd for carrying around a PPC to formal dinners but oh well.
