What kind of media are you using? The review over at Cdrlabs.com said the drive had some problems with a lot of media except sony, fuji and a japenese brand that I can't remember. Are the speeds quite fast? Debating on whether going for a 40x or 48x CD-R from Lite-On, and am not sure if I like the high media incompatability with the 48x.

I have one and the media that I have that will burn @48X are any 24X and up made from either Tayio Yuden or CMC. Stay away from Verbatim! BTW, Mitsui (the best CDR's) will have a 48X certified disk in July

I heard Fuji CD-R's are made by Taiyo-Yuden, is this true? I live in Canada and can only get multi-colored Fuji 24x CD-R spindle, so I hope thats ok... Didn't I read about how you broke your Lite-On 48x CD-R? Did it ever get fixed?

Yes It did break, but Newegg RMA'ed it for me. The driver was hosed before I even hooked it up. My new one works fine

a full burn at 48x is 20 seconds faster than a full burn at 40x. I know they aren't continuous speed, but still... does it even make a worthwhile difference?
