I recall 600 class being panned by reviews, but when I look closer... slightly lower performance than the 3060Ti.... but it has good VRAM. And a better price.

Launch reviews are a starting point for card shopping. They are also a snapshot in time. Those that go no further before buying, frequently do themselves a disservice.

AMD and Intel have some compelling alternatives at the moment. Again, that is the key, the time at which you are shopping. 3060 sells so well because of branding and the vram and DLSS checkboxes.. But it is considerably slower than ARC B580 or the 7600XT.

I won't be surprised when it beats an 8 GB 5060 in a few benchmarks, so if you managed to snag one back when it launched for MSRP, I'd say you get one heck of a deal.

It may not be the most powerful card, but the extra VRAM has given it a much longer lifespan. I'd probably liken it to Polaris in that way where when it launched the 8 GB of VRAM may have seemed pointless and excessive, but gave the card longer legs than contemporary cards with less VRAM.

Prices have gone full derp on RDNA 2 as well. Nothing left near that price NIB. Over $400 and creeping back towards the fake MSRP of $470 from the pandemic.

If you want more than 8GB that isn't a 3060 anywhere close to 3 bills, best chance is use stock trackers and have an itchy trigger finger.

I held off on posting this before, as I recently recommended for a family member to order it and I didn't want Amazon to run out of stock. But now they have it, so here goes.

A decent RX 6600, sold by Amazon proper, and for $200. Now this isn't the best price we have seen the RX 6600 at, as there have been deals for around $170 before, but those days may be gone.

Obviously this is only an 8GB card, but it is decent for what it is, and certainly for $200. Is the RTX 3060 worth an extra $100? Not sure...yes you get more memory, but the RX 6600 should be a bit faster in most situations (when not memory bound), and is cheaper.

Anyway hopefully this deal helps someone. As you can see, all the other Powercolor cards on that page are listed at much higher prices from 3rd party sellers, or are OOS.

$200 is fine for an 8GB card, and slots in nicely for a $600 budget AM5 system.

Yeah, used market is sorta crazy on 8GB cards. I can find 3060Ti's locally for ~$240 which go fast but for the money and the 8GB limitation is a really powerful and relatively efficient GPU. I've followed 2080 Supers going for less than $200 shipped on eBay and that's frankly a beastly card... and limited by 8GB.

I think if AMD or nvidia put their big boy pants on and "gave us" a 12GB card for $250 and faster than 6700XT/3060ti it would be an instant legend, an staple of the next two years - or maybe four years. I doubt we will be so lucky.

Yes, I am dismissing Intel out of hand for the moment.

There are some RDNA2 cards that slot in between those. The 6800 XT at $400 is a good value, but those have all sold out so you'd have to be willing to buy a used one.

There's also no guarantee that 9070 XT holds at $600 MSRP.
