I know...that's what annoys me considering it is awarded to the "best player"

The Heisman is a meaningless joke now..has been since Tim Brown won the award for a few good punt returns....White wasn't even the best QB in his conference...Manning is eons better than White anyway...

Rivers is way better than White. Without Rivers, NCSU's offense is nothing...the guy was their Michael Jordan. Evading the pass rush, threading passes all over the place, playing with the pressure that his offense has to score and score a lot because NCSU's D sucks donkey balls. He made everyone on his O bring their game to the next level with his incredible play. Rivers is going to make a very good pro QB because he used to a strong pass rush / bad protection and good coverage.

White's receivers were so wide open and he had so much time to pass all year...that his offensive line should get the award instead of him.

First time White actually saw a pass rush or decent coverage all year he had a very sub-par game and his offense did jack-sh!t (I'm talking about his 27-50 298 yard, 0 TD 2 INT performance against K St.). And don't let the 298 yards fool you...he got a lot of those after the game was long gone and K St's defense felt sorry for him. He sucked horribly.

IMO,

River was the real Heisman with Fitz 2nd. Rivers, Rothleisberger, Leinart, Manning, Dinwiddie all are better QB's than White and played better than he did.

And I watched most all of the OU games so I saw White perform throughout the year.

Eli is a better QB.. I dont feel to sorry for him though, he will be drafted higher than White. Hell B.J. Symons will probably be drafted before White.

i just dont understand why the heisman became a "mvp"? its basically a best QB award...and they already have one.. its called the O'Brien award

What minimunch said, but I am still pissed about QBs winning it all the time now. What about the all around great players. Perry was one of them. Fck the Heisman.

I'm going to have to buck the trend here and say that I think White deserved to win it. If you watched him play all year, he was phenominal, just like Rivers and Fitzgerald. He was lucky enough to have a solid team around him to give him an edge, but that's not his fault. He's certainly not a bad college QB, which can't be said for some previous heisman winners (Toretta anyone?).

There appears to be a pretty big lack of studly RBs in college football though, so it's basically going to be either a QB winning it, or a WR/KR/PR winning it. I thought Fitz had a legitimate claim, but in the end White's TD/Int numbers were just too good.

K-States running back was MUCH better than Perry.

of all the Heisman rip-offs ever, Grossman was the most robbed of the Heisman his Sophomore year two years ago. It really sucks that they reward it to 'seniors only' despite whether or not they're the best because underclassmen have another chance. As soon as Spurrier left, Grossman had no chance in hell to get a Heisman after Zook's sorry-ass 'run the ball and waste 1st down'-style of play.

Yep, Darren Sproles got so screwed out of the Heisman that none of you even mentioned him. Look at his numbers and tell me he shouldn't have won it.

SEASON RECORD ATT YDS AVG TD REC YDS AVG TD
2003 11-3 293 1948 6.6 1 15 22 282 12.8 2

Those are awesome numbers no matter how you look at it.

Hmmm...people keep saying that but let's think about it for a minute. Look at OU the previous two years then look at them this year. OU lost it's top 3 WR's last year and it's #1 RB. Look at what the offense on those teams looked like with Nate Hybl at QB. Nate had more talent in the WR corps to work with than White does now. Let's look at the offensive production during the Hybl years and then look at them with White starting. BIG difference. Yes, OU has talent, but they had more talent on the offensive side last year than they do now. What's the difference in the production? The QB. White is what made the OU offense strong, not the other way around. Of course I shouldn't expect a damn Longhorn to understand that.

Darren didn't get it cause he goes to KSU. Nuff said. I really didn't think he deserved the heisman this year, but Chris Perry had no business being there before him. Also, how could they award the Walker award to Perry over Sproles? Makes no sense.

The 6.6 yd average is 1.1 yards better than Perry and even wider margin than the other Doak Walker candidate.
