Who goes to a drugstore anymore? (ie: CVS, Rite Aid)

one of the credit cards that i dont use offers 5% cashback on drugstores this quarter.

it's been YEARS since i've been in a drugstore.

if i needed medicine, it's been either Walmart for over the counter or my local supermarket for pharmacy.

The lines at SuperWalmart pharmacy are horrendous, else i would use them for one stop shopping.

If u still use a drugstore, WHY?

They have better prices on some things, have a better selection, and I also use CVS for prescriptions. Wal Mart sucks for prescriptions.

Sometimes they are more convenient with pharmacy hours, shorter lines, better prices, etc. Older drug stores might also do things like onsite/custom formulations or delivery to patients. They certainly seem to be more knowledgeable and patient-oriented.

Grocery store pharmacies are okay for the most part if you just need the occasional Rx filled. Walmart pharmacy? Abandon all hope all ye who enter here...

I miss the old indie drug stores that had a lunch counter also. I spend equal time in chain drug stores and Walmart. I hate the Walmart near me though. Their prices are too high, and it has the other typical Walmart issues.

There's a CVS within a quarter mile of me, they have all of my prescriptions, and it would be a pain to transfer them all. My copay is the same regardless of where I go, so...

I love CVS. They're always giving me $2-$3 off coupons plus 20-25% of entire purchase coupons. And, they have an as-seen-on-tv isle, so I can see what marvels Vince is selling these days.

I ran out of calcium supplements last week, wasn't up for a 10 mile round trip drive to Costco, so bought some at CVS. Yes, I got gouged. :(

I live 9 miles from the nearest Walmart, so that's out. There are other things I get at CVS or Walgreen occasionally that I can't get at Costco. For instance, I get those silicone earplug blobs, they are the best sound blocking stratagem I know of -- my neighbors on one side are inconsiderate when it comes to TV (at all hours), video games (I think, I don't really know what they're doing), and just plain being boisterous.

I bought a variety of chewing gum at Walgreen a while back.

I buy bandages once in a while.

I have found some excellent deals on clothing at Walgreen and CVS, sweatshirts for $5-10.

I use rubbing alcohol, don't see it at Costco. I know that Costco doesn't have hydrogen peroxide... I asked.

These things and other sundry little things are generally cheaper at the drugstores than supermarkets, or aren't available at supermarkets.
There's a Walgreen about three blocks from where I live.
Same here. And there's a huge CVS a block from where my mother lives.

I use Walmart pharmacy with no problems. There is generally no line whenever I pick up my prescriptions each month. Worst case there has been one person ahead of me. Their website is ok for ordering refills. I never go to drug stores.

There are a lot of Walgreens and CVS around here. The CVS close to me is a 2 minute bike ride away. I buy bandaids and ointments and personal hygiene products there all the time.

I don't recall seeing hydrogen peroxide at Costco, but I know they sell the 2 pack liter size rubbing alcohol at Costco. Check around the pharmacy section.

I called Walmart a few days ago and asked if they have a battery that would work in my car. I got a live person immediately. She asked me to wait a moment. Over ten minutes of silence later I hung up and redialed and explained that it had been over ten minutes and I had given up hope of ever emerging from the black hole I'd fallen into. She asked me to wait "a second" and about 15 minutes later another woman comes on, takes my car make/model/year, comes back and says they carry it, don't have them in stock, call before I come. I'm not sure it's worth the $10-12 I'd save over O'Reilly's, who are way closer.

I like going to Rite Aid for my snacks and other non snack items. There is one RIGHT behind my house. I LOVE the place.

Cool, thanks for the tip.

BTW, folks, seems that every time I go into a Walgreen or CVS I see some pretty hot looking young babes, very well dressed. Drug stores attract that clientele.

I get their ad inserts in the local paper but I'm not aware of any around me, so I never check them out.

They're expensive in general. I do get my daughter diabetes test strips there which are significantly cheaper than big name brands though. That's the main reason I stop there, plus it's in walking distance. Food, household supplies, and electronics tend to be standard price, or even higher than other local options. Add to that, the prices on the shelves are frequently mismarked, and it just pisses me off. I try to buy from small stores and local manufacturers as much as possible, but sometimes it isn't convenient, or completely doesn't make economic sense, as is the case with test strips.

I do sometimes. Their drugs are more expensive than walmart, but for miscellaneous shit they're much easier to get in and out of. Even better if they are open 24/7.
And the ones in my town tend to be pretty nice. We got multiples of each so theres always one close by.

We only have one chain in town, Rite-Aid. I use them for prescriptions and nothing else. The Walmart pharmacy always has a long wait and long lines. The locally owned places have much shorter hours. Plus the iOS app makes refilling very easy.
