I'm living in residence, and there are 4 unlocked wireless networks for me to pick and choose from. At home, theres a generous neighbor. At my friends place too. It seems wherever i am, some idiot has left his network open! I dont think i will ever pay for internet ever again. i gotta thank linksys, smc, and dlink for making their routers so easy to install. :D

I wish. Actually my wireless network is wide open but I check my client table to make sure no one has been tapping into it.

I've tried to tell my Dad that he should enable some form of security on his wireless network, but he doesn't think its necessary. Granted, the houses here aren't that close yet. But there are housing developments on all sides right now.

Mines unlocked, but nobody near me knows that computers can be networked wirelessly.

Only one other network around here, and it's a Macintosh one.

me and my friend used to wardrive alot. Theres a rich neighborhood on a hill near here.. go on top of the hill, pull out his big antenna and stick it on the car.. boom, 30 unsecured networks. Worst we did was add a wep password, change the admin password to the router, change the name of it to something obsene, stuff like that. Enough to make the people realize their stupidity.

My brother does that all the time when he gets home for breaks from college.

the real question is, did you realize your own stupidity?
While you are at it why don't you go around a parking lot and find some unlocked cars and change their locks too.

Thank goodness someone here had broadband with an unsecured wireless connection, I'm staying in my grandparents house and thought if I brought my laptop I could luck out with using an AOL trial to access my e-mail, but nice neighbors...;)
