I've never been a Microsoft or Sony fan. I'll wait till Samsung comes out with something.

But buy the looks of the two, Sony smacks Microsft silly in a head to head comparison.

Backwards compatable to PS1? Yes, please.

I still love Final Fantasy Tactics and Colony Wars.

So sad the X-Box was the last out in the previous generation and the X-Box 360 was the first in for the next generation.

The numbers comparison is so unscientific that you're more likely to reach an accurate conclusion by pulling numbers out of a hat.

Let's not forget that Sony pulled a fast one on us last time, too, with their "supercomputer" claims and claims of being able to "render Toy Story in real time".

Well head to the stream the E3 conference here:
http://www.gamespot.com/live/stream_asx...ayall=&letsgs=&push=&prestream=&first=
It's quite long but if you skip the talking there are tonnes of demonstrations
The technical presentation starting around the middle are quite informative

I've watched the whole conference; it's convinced me that CG quality rendering is possible on PS3. I wouldn't say on par with Hollywood of course but even so it's pretty unbelievable
Graphic wise base on the footage shown

Demos are always more impressive than the games themselves. I can remember pre-release N64 demos by SGI that looked as good as the best PS2 games currently available. Being able to render, and being able to smoothly render interactively in a working game environment are two completely different things.

That said, sign me up for the PS3. I don't care about the hardware compared to the competition, it is clearly better than the PS2's. The game libraries of the PSX and PS2 are evidence enough for me that the PS3 will be a quality product. SuperCD support (hopefully 5.1) and Blu-Ray support are also nice bonuses.

I already have a PC (two, actually) - no need for a third, especially one which isn't upgradeable and does nothing other than play games.

Well I don't know about that. but the demos in the conference were interactive as the speaker was really controlling it. Well might be they were cheating using higher level hardware; Or pretending to be controlling it; but that would be unlikely

Currently based on demo and screenshopts the PS3 looks a bit more powerful
Though we'd have to wait and see

It's not like it's coming out very soon
