Who Else is Using a (FULL) Tower Case?

damn, what do you guys use those for? mass storage?
i thought my Antec 1080AMG was big 🙂

I prefer a full tower too.

Makes it easy to work in/on. I think better airflow.

Cocktail that I set on top while I game is easier to reach 🙂

does a raidmaxx 668w count in this case? before looking at those towers ribbon added, i would have said 'of couse it does, it's friggin HUGE'. how little i knew! 😛

I really like that. I have to say that if that were mine I'd place it on top of my desk. Even my Antec CS600 SOHO (same as Chieftec Matrix) fits on my desktop.

That's a nice system. What is that lower-most item (the meter) I see in the first pic?

I use a black Koolance PC-2 case, which is really a Chenming 601 modded for liquid cooling. It's a tower with lovely modular drive cages and rails for CD-ROMs and tapes, and a clear side window to see der flashen blinkenlights. The extra space inside is nicely utilized in part by the radiator and cooling reservoir. Still looks pretty pedestrian compared to what a case-modder can cook up in a few hours but it never fails to impress family and friends. Had a helluva time finding a place for it in my apartment.

EDIT: Eh, never mind, I looked at some of your other pics in the thread (*drool*) and mine is just a mid-tower. It still weighs 30 lbs. though... gah

Ditto

I did have a 120mm blowhole and duel 92mm intakes added, seriously helps with the heat.

And for storage just bought
4 x 300 gigers 1.2 t to go with
3x 250 gig ide =750
1x250 gig sata
2 x 74 gig raptors

All in all 2.348 terabytes just under 2.2 formatted with about 800 gigs filled no movies.
God Im a data whore. Wish the 400 giger were down around $200 then I would pop in 8 of those, for a nasty 3.2T

Working on getting this FREE through and R&D program http://www.mce.de/usTest/products/promise/vtrak15100.html
If I do get it I will stuff 15 300 gig drives in it, that would be super nasty

Next to buy
another 6800gt

I can't swing a full tower, the PC sits on my desk, and i move it often.

I just don't have a use for it.

That and the fact that most of the cases I like (looks) are mid.

my other PC which sits on the floor in the corner, is an Antec 1030 full tower, love the case.

Chieftec Dragon .... 3 hard drives and (only) two opticals. Gotta get another PS with more molex ends. What an absolute pleasure to work on as well. No more cut fingers or hands too big to fit in the nooks 'n crannies.

Hey WT - I snagged a TTGI/SuperFlower "520W" from Directron.com for my Chieftec. One of the major reasons for grabbing that one, is that it ships with 10 molexes stock. No SATA leads, and the +12V line is a little low (advertised as 18A, mine arrived and the label said 20A), but I bought it primarily to run a mid-range AMD or P4 rig as a fileserver, and to fill it with drives. I don't have any additional drives yet, but I think that it should work out. I did have some issues mounting the TTGI supply due to the non-standard PSU mounting plate in the back on the TigerDirect Chieftec, and the TTGI's fan grilles sticking out slightly though.

Btw, do you find that the opticals have any "play" in them? I'm worried that they aren't as solidly attached due to the rail mechanism used, and that it might affect burning discs due to the drive itself being allowed to vibrate slightly.

I've always kind of hated rails myself, but I couldn't pass up a decent full-tower ATX case with so many internal HD bays for only $30. 😛

i have had a ThermalTake XaserIII super tower for over a year now and i really like it!
super heavy duty with lots of great features!

just purchased a Lian-li pc75b case, i like the looks but it sure is whimpy compared to my
Tt case! about a fifth the weight so not sure if i will use it or not?
