I don't get off for crap anymore. When I worked for the state we got every fake holiday + the whole week off from christmas to new years.

Now its only new years, thanksgiving, xmas... few other main ones.

Thankfully, we have it off. Ran a half-marathon and hiked for two hours yesterday, definitely need the day off to recover, though I still need to do yard work and take the dogs out hiking later.

Damn I remember back when I was growing up we used to get this day off. Now because of the Redskins, everyone decided we shouldn't celebrate it anymore. So unless you work for the federal government or a bank, we're all here til 5 :(

When I worked for a smaller company, I got it off... Now past two jobs with large corporations? Nope.

Its not a scheduled day off, we get it as a floating holiday so I'll use this day around Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Columbus was working today, so I am too. Can't imagine anyone getting much discovering done on a day off.

I work today, but I took thursday and friday off, and normally do not work on the weekends, so I had a nice 4 day weekend. I drank eleventy bottles of ale, including a double rye IPA my brother brewed called "Rye god Rye?"

It was fucking delicious. The rest of course were all stouts. I had several good barrel aged double stouts, and one that claimed to be a quadruple stout, though it was not as strong as worldwide stout or brewdog tokyo.
