Why the hell are people NOT working today? TOMORROW is the holiday...

The "Oh darn, the holiday is on a weekend, let's take off the day before or the day after as a holiday" is getting out of control in this country.

my boss was actually cool this year. At the end of 2008, he posted the company schedule for 2009, and instead of getting july 3rd or 6th off, he said we would have a different day in december off instead. We were all pretty annoyed given the company history of days off.

Anyway, last week he shoots an email out and says "because all the hard work, and stress, blah blah, everyone take friday before 4th of july off". Was pretty decent of him.

...though it looks like the rest of campus, and town for that matter, is suddenly vacant.

i have to go in from 3:30 to 12:00. i don't get paid anything extra on any holidays since i'm a contractor and i have to work every holiday if it falls on my regularly scheduled days. it fucking sucks

I never get any kind of doubletime pay. I worked 4 10s this week so I could get today off without using a PTO day

Today: I got mail that I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
And Stargate: SG1, complete series DVD set, just arrived today.
