This, not the nipple you thought of ;=)

This is the most important criteria for me when buying a laptop. Touchpads suck.

Anyone else?

they both serve a purpose.

I prefer touchpads when I have room to move my arms and elbows, but if I don't have the room, then I guess I can settle for the nipples.

Mouse FTW.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Quit being a child.

wtf? I've always preferred using a mouse over any other pointing device. Nobody is going to make me change that...

They are more better than touchpads, but since hardly anybody sells laptops with nipples I always wind up w/ touchpads. One advantage touchpads have though is "zone tapping" (for example, tap upper left to middle click, tap buttom right to minimize, etc), but you'll have to desensitize your touchpad- default settings SUCK and I always wind up accidentally clicking something or dragging something if I don't lower the sensitivity.

What I really want is bluetooth keyboard with either a built in nipple or trackball- anyone know of one? Bluetooth trackballs themselves seem to be pretty scare, and bt combo keyboards (w/o touchpad) are really tough to find.

They're called thumbsticks. You're the first person I've ever seen refer to them as nipples.

I hate those fucking things on laptops. Touchpad or mouse or NOTHING. I had an IBM years ago, and I hated that stupid mouse nub to much I broke it off.

Edit: Despire the arcadio hate, this thread FAILS without a poll.

Trackpoints are so much better than touchpads. I can't stand how I have to move my finger across a touchpad several times before getting to the other side of the screen. A well designed trackpoint (IBM/Lenovo) will allow you to quickly move anywhere on the screen, but also offer you very high accuracy. A mouse is definitely better than either, but obviously it's not practical to have one at all times.

My X61T's default trackpoint isn't the "nipple" though - it's this. I prefer it quite a bit over the "nipple," as well as the one pictured in the first post.
