Who else here likes paying to get their car fixed? EDIT: I mean NOT fixed.

Including oil change I just dumped $411 into getting some stuff done on my car. I realized that I could have bought myself a new video card, a bunch of beer, and a stereo system upgrade for the same price but that would have been so much less rewarding! I can't wait to try out my new crankshaft seal and outter cv boots. Whoo hoo!

Would you ask your mom to build a computer? I wouldn't have the faintest clue where to start. Add to that the fact that I live at an apartment building lacking both room and tools and suddenly it doesn't seem so feasible. Oil change I should learn though, but nobody can teach me

What happened to that was Nissan was being quite asinine and I couldn't be bothered to give VW a go. Instead I plopped down the cash for an excellent (I think) 93 sentra and beyond these two problems the thing is now good to go. Saves me $300/month on payments and $50/month extra I'd have had to pay on insurance. I'm actually not really upset that nissan was so silly. So much for a poor car economy when they won't sell me a car worth less than 1/3 of my take home income, but oh well.

Imagine the joy I had when driving home and about a mile down the road a terrible knocking comes from the car (seems to be from the outside of the engine to the right low down). What could it be? Lets stop the car on the side of the road and find out! Wow! Look, it's idling and still knocking like mad. The antena is actually shaking like a tree in a hurricane. The engine has never been knocking before...what lovely gift have they let me? Well, lets drive back to the dealership and find out.

*5 minutes later*

It's 5:00. Guess what that means? The mechanics have gone home! If I'm lucky I can get a loaner car for the night...nope. Even luckier I get the shuttle to drive me home! Now I have the joy of finding a ride in to work tomorrow and waiting at work for "Frank" to call in with some great news. Thanks, guys what a great time!

I HATE paying to get my car not fixed.

A couple months ago, I got a complete brake job (pads, rotors, calipers, drums and shoes) done because I was strapped for time, and it needed to be done.

Sooooo... fast forward to today, and my brakes are acting up and pulsating all crazy again. My wonderful 6000km warranty expired 1000km ago.

Think I should take it back and demand they fix it? I don't drive like an idiot BTW, and I think that brake jobs should last longer than 2 months and 7000 km.

This is a major national chain who did the service, FYI.

Yes, but the calipers were remanufactured.

When he went to take the drums off of the back (front disc, rear drum) and tapped it with a hammer, the drum BROKE.

That's how badly they needed to be done, but I was too busy to do it myself.

its probably a front disc and rear drum setup. don't know why you would HAVE to get all those including calipers done. seems strange to me. looks like they took you for some extras.

Trust me, they needed to be done.

I watched him do the inspection, and almost fainted when I saw how bad of condition they were. I know how to do them myself, but I had to get back to work.

No brake work had been done in 112,000 km. It was about time.

And what car is this? I drive a '92 Accord w/134400 miles and the rotors & drums are barely worn down...

Oil is very easy to do, but you live in an apartment, I can understand the rest being a pain to do

Edit: You have a 93 and it still has Drums? Damn I hate drum brakes bad, that was the one thing I hated about my 69 Trck 4 wheel drum, if I'd have had it much longer I would have converted the whole thing.

Some IDIOT MOTHER FVCKER decided to shoot a bb at my car window last weekend. I came out with some friends on my way to the mall to buy some clothes and my rear driverside window is shattered. My tint is the only thing holding it up. Its gonna cost me a few bucks shy of 200 to fix it. God damn, that coulda went into my new comp!!

Oil = $2/q max (non-synthetic), filter = $4. So maybe $12-14

This is a complete POS 1995 Cavalier Z24 with 220,000km on it. It is dying a slow death (in spite of the fact that I take care of it), and I think the head gasket is going.

I will NEVER EVER buy another American POS car. EVER.
