Who else here is an ADD gamer?

I have to admit, I must have ADD when it comes to games. There are VERY few games that I ever finish. I'm a big gamer too. Games that I've been told are amazing I just have a hard time of ever finishing them. Let's go over some games in the recent past.

The last game I can remember beating is Gears of War 1. Not sure why, I think maybe because half the game I played with a friend, so it didn't seem so lonely.

I played a lot of Oblivion. I think maybe I got 70% of the main game and a lot of side missions. I haven't finished it though. Don't think I ever will

GTA4. Ya, that was a fun game. Maybe I finished 20% of it?

Killzone 2. First game I got on the Ps3. I was pumped as hell for this game. GREAT single player. Absolutely loved it. Until I played Multiplayer. Which than wore me out on the game. I got pretty far, but definitely didn't finish it.

Which reminds me of Halo 3. The first halo series single player I had ever played. I got pretty damn far. I think about 2-3 levels from the end. My younger brother in law picked up where I left off and beat it for me.

Now games I put a TON of time into. Modern Warfare 1. To bad I only played about 5 minutes of the single player. MW2 I have yet to play single player. I have however put in about 2 days worth of multiplayer.

Gears of War 2 got a rental from me. The MP was fun for a few days. Don't think I ever played single player on that.

Assassins Creed 2 got turned off about 3-4 hours in. I think I played AC1 a bit more.

I know where this all started too. When I was young a buddy of mine let me borrow FF7. I wasn't one for strategy guides, so I toughed it out on my own the entire way. I was a dumb kid so it took me a good 100 hours to get to the cave at the end of the game. Unfortunately though, one of the first battles in the cave I messed up and died. Shut the game off for the evening. Never to pick it up again..... ever. Never finished FF7 after getting 99% of the way through. That trend continued in FF8 and FFX. FFX was a great game by the way. I wish I knew how it ended.

Seriously, what the F is wrong with me?

Yep, I'll admit it. I have a whole pile of games I've never finished. I either get bored or frustrated with them.

I'm a bit of both. I like what I like, and I will play the hell out of it and even buy the DLC/expansions amd look for mods. Fallout 3, Borderlands, Crysis, HL2, and WoW were all like that for me. Other games just wear thin after a while and I lose interest. Far Cry 2, GTA4, Crackdown, were like that. Assassin's Creed II is looking like it might be an exercise in boredom too, not sure why I keep buying Ubisoft games.

I have way too many games I never finished. A few that I have played over and over. Currently I have about 9 console titles to play and about 15 pc titles that arent finished. Gonna take me a long time since life is crazy busy. When I had no life I finished all my games on principle alone. Now my time is worth much more...

I'm kind of the same way with RPGs. The game needs to have a ridiculously epic storyline for me to be engaged.

Mass effect, fallout 3, Fable 2 (to a lesser extent) all had this in my opinion.

Oblivion I've tried to play through about 5 times.. ughhh why can't I like this game? Same goes for KOTOR.. I know the storyline is epic but I just can't get into the 2003 graphics. I bought Dragon Age a few days ago and haven't touched it since I got back from the first forest mission.

I did the same in FF7. Went through it once, until I hit the northern cavern. Then, expecting an extreme challenge, I spent all my time leveling up on those magic pots and never actually fighting seph. Went through the game this way twice. On the third playthrough (on PC with outrageous cheating), I did finally go and kick sephiroth's ass. And it wasn't as dramatic as I was hoping it would be.

I'm the opposite. I finish virtually every game I play, unless it's so difficult that its frustrating. I've slogged through many a boring game just cause I HAVE to finish it.

I've actually beat every game listed so far in this thread. :p

I used to be this way. I'd have a ton of games and I would inevitably switch to another game before I beat the game I was playing. I still do it to an extent (it does't help that there are so many sales on games lately), but I'm making an effort to finish every/most games I start.

Some games I just can't finish though because I started them way too many times? Like Half-Life 2. I can't stand this game. Partially because I've played through the beginning at least 10 different times and I've always got bored of the game and eventually gave up before beating it. I have little desire to actually beat it, just because I hate the first two hours of that game.

i used to be like this. now i just pick and choose the big titles and finish them. i try not to preorder more than 2 games in the 6 month period. last season i preordered way too many games and i didn't finish some. i won't do that anymore, it was such a waste. currently working on dragon ages and modern warfare 2, with demon's souls on back burner. i like it this way.

Depends on the game really. Took me forever to finish GTAIV but I got it done. I finished MW2 and AC2 each in under a week, but that may have been because I rented both and wanted to get the most for my money. I also finished Arkham Asylum and Ghostbusters pretty quickly. Never finished Crackdown, Lost and Damned, Oblivion (barely started it), Fallout 3 (but I'm close), or a number of others.

I used to also do this but I've started making a conscious effort to actually finish what I buy and be very choosy with what I get (although those damned Steam deals keep making the list longer and longer). The last one I bought was Red Faction Guerrilla on PC and I just finished that...working on Hitman: Blood Money on PC. I also now have Godfather, Killzone 2, and AC2 on PS3 which I will have to finish before a whole bunch of games come out in February/March. Actually I better add Splinter Cell Conviction to the must play games as well.

I go through games 1 by one. Usually when I lose interest something is wrong with the game (copy-paste dungeon grind fest RPGs for example).

For me, it's not so much ADD as frustration factor. If I hit a game where I can't beat a particular boss/puzzle/encounter after a few hours of trying, I'll put the game away and go to something else, which almost insures non-completion. For example, as much as I love God of War, some of the timed sequences are just beyond my abilities at this point (at this point, mad skillz means to me that I get angry because my skills suck).

I'm ADHD (ADD was nipped long ago and now it is various degrees of ADHD), and I have at least 20 game still in shrink-wrap and probably out of about 3000 various games on various platforms I probably only finished 20% completely and shelved 85% due to lack of whatever. I find myself gyrating to rockband/GH games because I drink and play those games much better with a buzz :)

I have the same problem. Except for MW2. For some reason that game is like crack to me.
