Who else here HATES streaming video?

Well, maybe poison oak.... Seriously, I think streaming video is the bane of my internet experience. Not only does it NEVER WORK PROPERLY, but if I can view the content any time I want, why do I have to waste bandwidth every time I want to do it? Just let me download it once and I'll never have to bog down your already-crappy servers again! :|

Really? Will that format my C drive so that all streaming media is downloaded onto it? I guess the y means "Yes, always do it?" I'll try that now and let you know if it worked.

I agree about the streaming video.. It is bullshit. Get the fake Real codec and Quicktime codecs from www.free-codecs.com and they allow you to save a lot more often than normal Real or Quicktime does. I think there's also a plugin to automatically save Windows Media.

yea, most of the time its absurdly protective. like some companies are scared you'll save their promotional videos and share them with your friends or something haha

why do videos stream? You're right, there's nothing that pisses me off more than streamed videos. Is there any way to change the way the video loads?

A few years ago, streaming video never worked for me. It would almost alway buffer and be a slideshow at best. I never figured out why and if it was only me who had this problem with WMP7. Anyway, it all works fine for me now. If there is anything I do not like about it, it is that it is usually 300KBPS or less.

Just use VLC.
If you start playing a file that's being downloaded, it'll treat it like a stream and "fill up" as the download progresses.

It also handles just about any format known to man, which is a nice bonus :)

i have VLC, but it doesn't work for some things like bittorrent files since it needs the beginning of the file to work. I've had some occasions where the first 5% of the file is the last part to finish :(

I hate it, especially since half the time it doesn't stream from their server fast enough to watch, and without me being able to easily save it to HD, I am thusly unable to watch it. It's always on their end too.
