I got up at 7:15 this morning to go to work, came home at 6:00, fell asleep by 7:00, and jsut now woke up. I'll probably be up till 2:00am and then do the same thing tomorrow. I really wish I could just stay up until mdnight and then go to bed, rather than taking a nap in the evening. Anybody else out there who can't sleep properly?

And where the hell is my girlfriend....

Ooops.. Sorry.. She didn't know you were up. I'll send her home.

J/K! :D

Actually, when I was out of work years ago, my sleep schedule was MESSED UP. I would play Quake online until 5-6AM, then sleep until 4-5PM. It is wierd waking up when everyone else is coming home.

I did something similar to that the last few years when I couldn't get my classes scheduled all at 11. I'd get up and go to an 8 or 9 class, maybe another one or two classes, come back, sleep for a few hours, get up and either go to another class or just mess around, dinner, then homework and end up going to bed at like 2 or so. This year, though, my classes start at either 11 or 11:15, so I try to be in bed by 3 or 3:30 and get up at 10 every day.

pattern... I wish I had a pattern. I work 5am-10am 6days/week but not any particular days and sometimes its 12am-8:30am instead or a 5hrs shift in the afternoon sometime once awhile. Anyway, I'll usually sleep anywhere from 3-5hrs at night and 2-4hrs during the day. I can't remember the last time I got more than 5hrs of continuous sleep at one time.

I somehow managed to get mine completely 180 degrees backwards this summer for a few days, but I'm on a decent schedule now. I wish I could konk out at 10:00p and wake at dawn without an alarm (getting up early feels GOOD when you're rested!!), but I will sleep in as long as I can when given the chance.

My girlfriend is fairly convinced I have something like DSPS, although I'm still not completely sure. I've talked to my doctor about it and he recommended me to a sleep specialist to see what it is. I haven't really gotten around to doing that though - too lazy and don't think it's that important or something heh. Either that or I'm afraid to find out what kind of sleep problems/disorders I actually have.

Yeah, no sense in finding out the real problem so you can treat it.

Heh I know I know, it's kind of stupid for me to drag it along and I should just go get it checked out one of these days. :p I guess I'm just content with my sleeping habits as they are and kind of hesitant about possible change.

My sleep schedule is permanently messed up. I work graveyard shift, and the times during which I sleep in the day vary depending on both the phase of the moon and whether the gardeners are using leaf-blowers around here that day.

You're too lazy to figure out why you're not sleeping right? Thats a vicious cycle.

I too have a messed up sleeping pattern. I stay up late on weekends (1 or 2 in the morning) then it takes me till Friday to wake up not feeling tired at 7:30 for work. But by then its the weekend again.

I can NOT take naps during the day, it's just too light out. If I get 5 hours of sleep, I'm screwed for 18 hours most likely.

I work 4pm to 1 a.m. Weds through Friday. I work 10a.m -7p.m. Saturday and Sunday. My days off are Monday and Tuesday. I normally go to sleep somewhere between 4a.m and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and wake up somewhere between 11a.m. and 2p.m. Friday night I try to get to bed early, but it's rarely before 2 a.m. Saturday nights I go out often enough and will sometimes not get to bed until 3 or 4 a.m. so sunday nights I will sometimes pass out early like around 10 or 11 What messes me up really bad is that every once in a while, I can't get to sleep during the week until 8 a.m.

Mine is all screwed up. I am sleeping about 5 hours a day now. I need to get back in shape faster so I can drop back down to 2 hours.

I'm another one.

Stay up till whenever 3-5am listening to ArtBell, surfing the net, or watching a movie. Then waking up at 12-1pm. And the cycle continues. Was even worse when I had to work the 5am shifts, come home at 2-3 and fall asleep until 8, then stay up till 3-4am get my hour's sleep then wakeup at 5am for work again.

I'm an insomniac, no doubt. I don't mind though. I feel free to do things whenever I like, without having to be so constrained by the ticking clock. I will not allow some device to control my life, at least not to the extent that it would on regular folks. What? Time for bed? Take a hike. Time for dinner? Who says? Oh, the clock. Time to wake up? Kiss my arse. Too late to go out? OK...

That's the way my mom works, everything she does has to be according to the clock. She ends up having to chase time forever, its always rush rush rush. I don't work that way.

mine's screwed beyond any possible fixing at this point IMO.

i go to sleep about 4 or 5am. then wake up about 5 hours later. Usually get up at 10am. No naps during the day. It's all screwy. Only benefit of it is I am able to chat with friends overseas. :)

Mine is hopelessly screwed up. I work when I can get it and the hours vary like crazy. Couple of weeks ago I had to be up at 3am to be on a site at 6am. :/

Since starting school: Weekdays wake up at 7, come home around 3:30, sleep around 8 and wake up around 12. Then stay up all night. On the weekends I sleep almost 12 hrs a night. I probably could have a normal sleep schedule if I studied right after dinner until midnight, but whatever.

hell yes!!! i am studying engineer and you'll know how much engineers get to sleep. crapper.

i wake up at 7 everyday school day, go to school, come home around 2 or 5 (depends which day of the week) sleep at around dinner time, wake up an hour or 2 later, study and do stuff till 2-3 in the morning, and go back to sleep again. then cycle repeats itself.

Lets see, I work what is called a California shift. 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 96 off. Hours that is. So I am up and awake at various time, various days, and doing various things. Of course I only work 10 days a month with overtime, but wow, not too good for getting used to a steady sleep plan.

Well, for what its worth, as someone who has been forced to educate himself about sleep issues because he has a severe sleep disorder, your screwed up sleep habits aren't really a problem unless its a problem.

Meaning, if your screwy sleep habits are not adversely affecting your life, then you have no problem. But if you find that your life is beginning to suffer from sleep related problems, then you have a problem. For me, it was falling asleep at the wheel, at the dinner table, at work, everywhere. My life was being impacted negatively.

But if you seem to be getting along with it just fine, then carry on.
