For my upcoming US History AP course, I have to memorize the Presidents in order. On the first day there's a test that has this and some other US History stuff. If you fail, you're out.

Did anybody else have to do anything like this? It's really boring.... I've gotten about 32 memorized, and I've spent about an hour and a half on it:)

i was supposed to memorize them, along with the 50 states and capitals in 8th grade. i refused to learn the presidents, and got a 48 on the final pres. test, i believe. i just cheated on the states/capitals one (i knew states had no clue about capitals - come on, who cares), and got around a 95 i think.

During my exchange year in KY I had to do that in my last exam - but I refused to do something as stupid as that so I failed that part - screwed up my GPA and I only became an homor student - who cares school in the US was a jike anyway - but a nice boost for my ego :)

Memorizing presidents and state capitals = utterly retarded. Can anyone humor me on why it would be important to know the presidents in order or all the state capitals? Hell, we have google for all of that stuff :p

Had to do it last year for my US history class. Not too tough...Just have to keep going over it again and again...hand writing the last, reading the list, and reading the list outloud....mix it up a little... Got all of them right on that test ;)

What's up w/ all the people not doing it?:p Geez, it's not useless since I need it to stay in the course, where I'll get college credit.

I do it in groups of 8. Just memorize a group, recite it a lot, memorize another.

Yea, it is pretty stupid, but required:)

I never had to memorize either the Presidents or the state capitals. I had a placemat at the dinner table at one point with all of the capitals on them. I eventually learned them that way, but no, I never had to.

I did it, but didn't just sit there and force myself to memorize a list. I instead thought of the accomplishments, or failures, of each president, made it easier for me.

No but I did memorize all 36 counties in Oregon in alphabetical order.

Of course this was back in the 8th grade.

Good Idea!!

I memorized all the Presidents too, but when I was in school there were a lot fewer of them!

It's a wonder they didn't want you to only memorize the liberal Presidents. The school system is so Fvcked!
