I purchased reuseable cotton bags for grocery shopping. Anyone else brings their own reusable bags?

You should, plastic bags are destroying the environment. In the pacific ocean their is a land mass of plastic bags and bottle almost as big as the U.S. It is becoming a death trap for the sea life and birds.

For those of you who still use the free plastic bags they give you in the store, ask your self if that bag is worth the decimation of your planet, and the deaths of many marine and bird life.

I think it's naive to believe humans can have a decimating impact on the planet. The planet is billions(?) of years old. Humans have been making plastic bags for less than 100 years? The material for the bags came from the planet... Help me out here.

Hells yeah... we used to have a whole cabinet dedicated to plastic "Kroger bags" but now I have 7-8 of the cloth kind that I bring with when I go to the grocery. Almost never need any more than that. They seem to pack these better than the plastic bags...

I use the free plastic ones, and I double bag the heavy stuff.

I'm going to hell for this!!!

I try to use the reusable when I remember to take them along.

Have to do my bit to save the plant. Try to minimize the decimation of the plastic tree forests!

I take the plastic bags at the store every few trips so that I have bags to load shit into for recycling and the smaller garbage bins around the apartment. Otherwise yes, I take in canvas bags. The main grocery store I buy from sells the things for $1.50, then knocks $0.05 off your bill for every bag used in the trip. I'm relatively sure I'll be buying groceries for a while yet so it'll even out eventually.

I bring a backpack because it is easier to carry for me, but the bags at my local grocery store are really good.

I bring reusable canvas bags to the grocery store.

What concerns me more though, is that so much of our packaging is not recyclable. In contrast, I was traveling in Germany recently, where practically all material (soft and hard plastic, paper, foil, etc.) is completely recyclable and homeowners risk fines if they toss recyclables in the garbage.

We are embarrassingly behind the times.

I use the plastic ones. Then they get used for the little garbage cans in my bathrooms. No wasting here.
