Wells Fargo is the one. It's like McBank. The ATMs are freaking everywhere and are free to use. I have two mortgages, a credit line (7.7%) and my checking account there. The online banking is just awesome.

They even added a new feature called One Look. I can look at my OTHER online credit accounts (like credit cards, retirement accounts) through a portal on their website. You just enter your account and password for those other services into the One Look page and then from then on you can see all the accounts in one place.

McDonalds. Walmart. USA Today. Wells Fargo. There is convenience by sticking to the standard.

I use BofA and ING Direct's online banking systems. Never had a single issue in 3+ years other than some accounts that didn't show up initially (took a simple phone call to fix). They're pretty darned safe these days, but only as safe as your connection/security/password. Most banks these days offer a 100% guarantee on funds if anything goes wrong on their end security-wise.

Before online banking I used to buy a couple rolls of stamps each year. Since then, I only buy one a year and usually don't even use it up by the end of the year. Not having to write checks for everything has been great.

Very safe depending on your bank, your internet connection (are you using wireless internet or using a public computer?), and most importantly your web browser. My bank offers a 100% guarantee on online banking so if my account were to be hacked (which it hasn't) I would get everything back. Here are 193 bank reviews including my bank.

Cool reviews. My bank, Bankone, got a 2 out of 5 with over 100 votes...excessive fees. Dang this is so true. :frown: Time to read more of these reviews. :)

Excessive fees? If you have direct deposit and meet other reasonable requirements, Bill Pay is FREE! Some are just too stupid to read the terms.

Bank1 for me. Put in the due date and they GUARANTEE it is paid on time!

I use BofA online banking. Also, I have my Paypal VISA ATM card which I can use immediately at an ATM machine, store purchase as a VISA or pay bills online. Helps a lot if you do online selling/buying.

I do all my banking online. I can transfer from my bank which is in Texas to my wifes which is here in FL. Usually the transaction is instant, but sometimes takes 24 hours. I also pay every bill online. If offered, I opt for email statements instead of snail mail, It's a waste to me to get paper statments, I usually just shread them without opening!

They only thing I actually mail are stuff like rebates, and it takes a while to remember how ;)

So what are the fees associated with online banking? If you transfer $$ to another acct. at another bank do they charge you?

BoA did mess me up one time. I paid my Discover card using online banking and they sent the payment way late, so I got dinged with a late fee and finance charges from Discover. It took about 2 months of phone calls to get BoA to reimburse me, they were complete idiots and acted like I was lying to them. I ended up sending a certified letter to the VP of online banking, the day after I got a call from a "customer delight specialist". No joke!

I been online with First Union since 1998. Here is why I like it.

1. I am not good at keeping a checkbook...Quicken with online banking makes the checkbook balance a thing of the past for me. I do not even own regular checkbook anymore.
2. I can pay bills at 3am
3. I get off work at 2am ...I make deposites at the ATM and haven't even walked into the bank in past two years except for when I financed my house there.
4. No more envelopes or stamps to worry about.
5. It is worth the monthly fee for me.

That's the one thing you've got to watch out for with online bill payment (through your own bank)...disappearing payments. The payment I sent from my bank (M&T) to Citibank on the 5th still hasn't shown up yet (as of 2/12). Due date in the 17th so I'm going to have to wind up eating the $14.95 Citibank phone payment fee if it doesn't show up by the end of today.
