Who do you think would win in sports? 4A or 2A Highschool?[poll]

My roomate and I had this long debate over 4A schools and 2A schools sports programs. I said that a 4A school would most likely kill a 2A school in sports given that they have a larger population so the 4A school has many choices to choose from and also the fact that because there is a higher population, the competition to make the cut for the team is also more difficult therefore the skill level is higher. Whereas at a 2A, the school has less people to choose from so the chances of someone making the team is easier and doesn't really have to compete that hard to get on the team. What do you guys think?

I thought lower division schools had more people..i.e. Division 1 has the most. What's the argument for the smaller school?

A medicore 4A will slaughter a medicore 2A. I have seen some very good 3A, 2A, and A schools in my day though.

What's the argument for the smaller schools? As far as I know the reaons they have divisions is so that the larger schools dont have an unfair advantage since they have a larger population to draw from. Of course this doesn't apply to private schools with open enrollment since they have players fly in just to play sports there, meaning they can have a very talented player pool w/o a large student body.

His argument is that, He's played on a 2A team for 4 years, that he played against some 4A schools, ( the 4A school he played against sucked ass) but his team won 2A state twice. So his team is decent. I said that the top 2A team, would most likely lose to the top 4 A team.

Oh about the Division 1 and 2. Yes lower means more population, but this division applies to college whereas 4A, 3A is for high school

Well i guess if you put it that way sure a 2A team can take a 4A team, but on average the 4A team will beat the 2A team...

His main argument is that he says that he has experience whereas I don't and I am saying that a 4 A school would slaugther a 2 A school. But looking at the population and stuff I would think most people would agree with me.

Also, do you guys think that 4A players have a higher succesful rate than a 2A player, like for playing basketball at a Division 1 college or even having better chances going into the NBA or something. I also said that because the competition level is higher in 4 A sports, the skill level in 4A is higher than the skill level at 2A.

Are you saying it's backwards in high school vs college?

I'm pretty sure my high school was Division 1 for sports and we had over 4,000 people..

hrm, i am pretty sure that for high school higher the # means higher population and that for college its Division 1 is the highest and so on down to #2

For Universities, Division 1 is the highest.
For HS's, they start from A for very small schools and all the way to 7A for the largest.

it doesn't matter how big your school student body size is. it depends on every athlete's talent.

my high school = group 1 (smallest student body size compare to group 4 the largest.) our school dominates in the state in girls bball, boys/girls swimming and boys/girls lax. my high school boys lax team is currently #2 in the state and they are still alive in the state playoffs (state title game is on this saturday.)

Yeah, but the chances of having that athlete's talent is greater for a 4A school since the population is higher whereas at a 2 A school, less people so lower chance of finding that talent.

It depends if the 2A team is a special team or not.

My HS football team was a Division 3 school. Every year, we would scrimmage 3 of the Division I schools. These schools were consistently ranked in the top 4 of Div. 1, and both years my grade was a part of varisty, we wound up slaughtering them. It came to the point where they tried to start fights with us cause they were getting beat so bad in the scrimmages.

Could my team have taken any team in Div 1 those 2 years? Without a doubt. We were arguably the best team my HS ever had, and arguably one of the Top 5 teams to ever play on Long Island. We set a number of Long Island records, along with our grade never having lost a game since Junior High. We were a very good team. However, most teams are not like that.
