Who do you think made a better deomocatic senate leader?

JEDI

Lifer
If Daschle was still the leader of the democrats in the Senate, what do you think would be different now?

Does it even matter? Daschle drove them into the ground, and Harry Reid is making sure they are staying buried there...

good lord, i know i'm just an evil republican, but i truly feel that democrats should be more concerned about the real face of the democratic party, and that's howard dean. i have many democrats in my church, and they simply can't stand the man, he makes so many political gaffs. my advice to the democratic party, and i say this sincerely, ditch howard dean as soon as possible and appoint a more likeable guy, or at least a better strategist, or even someone who doesn't unload on the press and say such controversial things... i'd actually recommend democrats appoint someone like john edwards, who is a likeable fellow, is well-spoken, and doesn't seem so venemous.

again, i know i'm an just an evil republican and servant of the sith lord, George Bush, but would at least one democrat agree with me on this matter? That Dean really needs to go?

Good lord, would a priest be best suited for the role of chairman of the Democratic party?

priest? lol, you thought i meant "crossing over" john edwards, the flim-flam psychic? no, i was talking about jonathan edwards, former democratic presidential, then vp hopeful. although, even the kooky john edwards would be better than howard dean.

Way to make a wise-ass statement and then fail to back it up at all.

You guys would love that. Edwards is a trial lawyer. The Repubs already carry on about how trial lawyers drive up the cost of doing business in America (they're right), so if the Dems put up a trial lawyer it would just give them more material.

Dean's worst gaffes are when he quotes scripture. He doesn't do it very well. But as far as organizing the party, his job really hasn't been evaluated, has it? Terry McCauliffe (sp) was a disaster the Clintons' left the DNC with. And besides, the GOP loves having Dean there to make blunt statements (their verity can be debated later, it's better focus on a comments' appropriateness, no?). Dean also showed the most innovative method of raising a lot of money through small contributions. This will be more and more important going forward, as the GOP lockhold on power has given them the ability to starve revenues from big business towards the Dems.

How could someone in the GOP recommend Dean's stepping down when DeLay's still in Congress, and Rumsfeld's still in office?
Talk about an embaressment / vice for his party.

What is there to "back up?" Have the Democrats won control of any facet of government in the last decade? The courts? The House? The Senate? More governorships? What? What have they done for us lately?

Do they even have an agenda? They are doing the same nonsense that cost them the '04 elections and even Democratic strategists are saying that the chances of them winning anything anytime soon is next to none.

So how about you "back it up" and tell me what they have done to get their heads out of the sand? What have they accomplished? Drugs for seniors? Ugh, no, that issues was stolen by the Democrats...a super majority is only a few seats away in the Senate....and thanks to Moore/Moveon/et al, it looks like that seed might reach fruition and bare fruit in 2008. America has time and time again followed the Democrats' agenda and "Just said No!" No Moore...no Daschle....no moveon...no Dean...no Democrats controlling any part of government and its institutions.

Just take a look at the democratic party's power dwindling and their performance in the last several elections. That's all the backup I need.

More African Americans are looking at the Republican party...unions are breaking up and their bargaining power diluted...Dean was supposed to exacerbate donations flowing into DNC coffers, but is sadly failing to compete with Republicans...they are not in decline, though. They are stronger than ever! It won't be long before the DNC is as irrelevant as the UN...
