We hired guys through a local dealer. I think we paid $150, but it was moving ~30 miles. We could have had friends do it but the dealers have the dolly that makes it a ton easier. I figured we were getting ~$5K off the new price for a 6 month old, hardly used tub, so the extra $150 was negligible.

your friends. Pay them with beer.

Ive moved 3 hot tubs.

1. Hook your truck up to your trailer
2. Drive to where the hot tub is
3. Load hot tub on trailer
4. Proffitttt!!!one!!!

its not that hard.

Or, hire a tow truck operator with a flatbed. They can hook the tub up to a cable and winch and pull it up on the back of the truck and then deliver it pretty much anywhere.

my parents have a hottub and we moved it once. lets just say its a good thing they are friends with a 6'6" 300 lb guy.
that was 10 years ago, maybe hottubs have undergone radical changes what with spaceage polymers and whatnot.
the one that they have is NOT light.

5k off the price?

Son, they are only like 5-7k to begin with, even for a NEW large 8 person models with all the bells and whistles. You bought a 6 month old USED tub...

Gee, you got a great deal.

I'd say it depends on the size of the hottub and options with it.

Some hottubs are flipping huge...those 10 person tubs with 2 or 3 motors in would likely be heavy as hell. Those are approaching 2000 pounds. That's a lot of weight for 4 people to lift.

The smaller ones that seat 4-6 with only one motor probably wouldn't be so bad. They are around 600-800 pounds and are manageable with 4 people.

that's a good idea - i'll call a local dealer to see if they're willing to farm out their movers.

Depends on the tub. Some of them can get into the $10k-$14k range.

Yeah, we got a very nice one (Hot Spring). They run about $10K new. My brother-in-law said the cheaper ones weren't worth owning, so we waited for the right deal on a higher end tub.
