Chinese symbol

Apparently, according to the site it comes from, it is chinese for 'forum'. If it is wrong can someone point me to the correct symbol.

PS. I think it is simplified chinese.

It looks like the character for "dirt" or "earth", but I'm not sure because or that little mark at the end of the first horizontal line.

<edit>I think that is just because of the brush stroke. I'm not sure if that character has more meanings.<edit>

Yes. It means dirt or earth.

If it is simplified Chinese then it can be Japanese as they use old fashioned Chinese characters.

It is pronounced tsuchi or doro in Japanese.

In Japanese, they use the word in different ways. They use it with the Chinese meaning, but they also use it with a different meaning. It is used in the word for saturday and is probably used elsewhere too, but you said it is Chinese right? As for the word for forum (too many fors in there)j/k I'm not sure. Maybe someone better at Chinese than me can help.

I think a loose translation for forum in Japanese is KAI or association.

It's kind of difficult to find a link to that word if you can't read Japanese but try this.

The character is the one underneath society along the top.
