Where can I get some basic instructions on how to set up ftp?

Well first try the Serv-U free trial at http://www.serv-u.com/download.htm. After that go to Setup > Users > Add, set the default home dir for what you want to serve, and modify read/write rules as needed in the same window. Besides that most of the defaults are fine, port 21, etc. Then tell your friends to connect to <your ip>:21 with the login and pass you created.

You can use the IIS FTP if you want and it's available in your version of Win2K, although its a bit more complex to setup. Hope that helps.

best way to learn bout it, is to play with it.. go to www.download.com or whatever software site you go to, and look for a program called &quot;Serv-U&quot;, its a small ftp server, download it, install, and have fun, jus look through the readme files.. Im assuming that you do have some experience with downloading via ftp sites, yes?...

yup, go with something easy first like serv-u. it can get a little confusing with setting up users and groups once you get into programs like WarFTP(ugh!) anyway, good luck!
