Who came up with the dumb idea that there are 2.5 servings in a bottle of soda?

20oz is one serving. So is 12oz, it's just a smaller serving. I mean, it's not like you can drink half and save the rest for later, it'll go flat.

Because most people wouldn't actually do the math to reveal that a real-world serving of Coke has like 100g of sugar in it ;)

There are rules as to how much of something there has to be per serving before you have to claim it. Also if you make the servings smaller you can round down on things like sugar and calories that you don't want a lot of and it looks like it has less. If you make the serving small enough so that each serving doesn't have much sodium in it, guess what? It's now low in sodium! It's amazing how that works;)

You reminded me of a comedian on comedy central who had a few lines about serving sizes, can't remember his name.

Hahaha it was pretty funny, but reading it wouldn't be funny I don't think.

2 fig newtons is a serving heheh

maybe someone else remembers his name?

I like the packaging on different foods. Like on the box of Uncle Ben's rice for example, it shows a picture of a really nice meal with rice and in the lower corner it's says "serving suggestion." I also saw on a jar of mayo, a picture with a spoon full of mayo, and right underneath it said "serving suggestion." Like I need the mayo manufacturer's suggestion of how I should serve my mayo.

I'd guess John Pinnet, but just cause he's a huge guy that talks about food a lot...

This is kind of stupid and inane, but this thread doesn't show up in my posting history. I just thought you all should know.

**Edit: Now it does; twice like it should. It didn't a minute ago. Weird.

it's so that mathmatically declined individuals reading the label will see smaller calories per serving.
