Not hard to find these folks with 2 hr Wu's and 37,000+ completed.

Hmmm... 48 minute and 28 minute WU's? (sniff, sniff) Something smells fishy...

As far as Black Ben, chances are he probably upgraded his fleet and hasn't upgraded his SETI page. Like you said, no way that fleet does an average of 5 hrs.

Even if it was an upgrade, figure the Averages.... he might have had 10,000 Wu's @ greater than 10hrs and the last 29,000 Wu's were what kind of times? It still doesnt figure... looks like greed set in. I was thrilled when I broke the 10hr avg mark over a year and a half ago, for the past year+ I have averaged 6 hr 16 min Wu's, my current average is 7 hr 18 min 23.9 sec.

On the Danish list there is a guy named Blicher with an average of 0 hours 39 min for 13123 wu's :Q

That can't be true :disgust:

That Ben Guy has an update date on the bottom of his page it says
Updated <!--webbot bot="Timestamp" S-Type="EDITED"
S-Format="%d-%m-%y" startspan -->04-07-00
that's pretty old but he has to have some pretty nifty computers to have an average that low with that many wu's

MiniTeAm Toft / Vold -DK has an average of 5 Hours <!--webbot bot="Timestamp" i-CheckSum="12252" endspan -->2 min 30 sec for app. 15000 wu's :D:D:D
It's still going down but very slowly. To go under 2 hours is not anything thats possible , in my opinion
cause if you have a lot of wu's @ let's say 6 hours the task is unbelieveable

It's possible, just unlikely. I did my first 300 or so WU's on a celeron 300a with the screen saver, then took a two year plus break. Once I got back into it, I assim'd this fleet of p4 1.9 ghz pcs that produce at 4 hrs 20 minutes or so. Even with a bunch of other systems hurting my average, my avg is still right around where this guy's is. Mine should dip below 5 hrs in the next few weeks.

Not saying that's what happened, but it's certainly more possible than 116K wu's at less than half an hour.

I hear what you're saying. Unless he didn't produce many WU's with those slower systems I think it's very unlikely he was able to lower his average WU time with legit means. I was just trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

When I started SETI my top home rig was a dualie with 300A's @504. At work I had some P2's but I had plenty of P233MMX systems running as well. With the users having Outlook2K, IE, Excel, Word, etc open all at the same time even SETI's little 15MB of RAM used was slowing down the systems. When the 3.03 client came out I killed everything below a P2-350 and since then I think I've killed everything that's not a P3 or better.

Another possibility is that if Berkeley has made an adjustment to their account for whatever reason it screws up the average time. I have seen it happen before.

this can happen if you have a system with a flakey overclock, eventually you start getting most WU's done in less than 1 min. I think that happened to a remote system for one person on our team a year or 2 ago that just coudn't be fixed for the longest time just because he couldn't get to it. There might be the possibility that these could be honest mistakes but my bet is they are doing this on purpose.

I used to run s@h on a 400mhz celeron but it always returned them after less than an hour. I couldn't find out why so after 2 or 3 of these "fake" WUs I decided not to run it on that machine.

Hmm, the 3rd, Black Ben, since he's from Denmark, it's just to look on Soni's stats...
It looks like he's got 2 accounts. Looking on the 5h-account, a little plot gives exponential groth from June 2002 to 15. October... In December, it looks like new groth...
The 2nd account, Black Bens Non-Pipelined FPU, has the same patterns at the same times, only much steeper since December... This account has spit out nearly 20k the last month...

Of course, the groth can be due to his "SETI hidden at other people computers"-link... there he's talking about "Boss doesn't understand the importance of being #1 in the local Seti-Group" (my translation...)

As for the average times... atleast for Black Ben, 11k with fast-v3.00 and earlier, 5213 with v3.03 to June 2002, and 23k afterwards... He's not using the computer-list from 2000, but this doesn't seem to be so far off... if the 23k is 3h or faster and not all doublets...

And how many of these machines that do sub 3hr Wu's do you suppose it would take? I have one rig in my whole fleet that does sub 3 hr Wu's, and I have a great fleet.

Hmm...digging around a little...I remember seeing some charts someplace... ah, here... softdata

Well, instead as, like shuxclams starting 17.09.2001 with 12.444 wu and average 10,05 h/wu, Black Ben started 09.10.2000 with 7.280 wu and average 8,31 h/wu...

On his web-page, fast wu gives 8,2h/wu, and slow 8,83h/wu. His start-point of 8,31 with seti-2.x is inbetween.
A quick calculation of the rest of the data, looks like around 6h/wu for v3.00.
He took a long break before jumping back with v3.03; from August 2001 he's using under 5,5h/wu, and from November 2001 5h/wu. He's now done 12.588 wu...
From June 2002, with 17k wu done, he's down to 4h/wu. Currently, he's averaging 3,25-3,5 h/wu...

Ok, so it wasn't sub-3h...

Hmm, 6,18h/wu... is this more or less correct, shuxclams... ;)

Geeesh, it never stops... :(
Oh joy, another cheater.

This is why I wish Berkeley would just end SETI1. These cheaters are ruining the project.
