Hey guys, to cut a story short I need to find a top rated software/database development firm to develop my software. The firm needs to be familiar with the health field regulations and electronic signitures. The project deadline is around six to seven months.

Can anyone give me some suggestions as to who are some top custom software/database development firms? I've tried google and there are just so many to determine who to go with. I want to outsource the development because i hear it's cheaper, should i do it?

Out source development will only work if you have a solid clean set of requirements.

You still have the overhead cost of monitoring the work and tweak/tuning.

Regulations can vary depending on what part of the industry you are interacting/interfacing with.

You would have to be much more specific - are you talking FDA, CDC, etc

Which regs to you have to work with?

Many firms do work with the government(s) and have a large overhead cost.

You may be better off either doing it in house, or find a S/W developer that will work w/ you once you have the proper requirements layed out.

MWilding used to (and still may) work in the Drug industry field, he may have some insight.

In my old job, I hired Eaglekeeper to develop a really nifty database tool and was VERY satisfied with the results.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if i was going to get any. =D

Okay, this is the complete story. My university sponsors a competition to start a new business every year. Anyone who lives in the area can enter. So i entered and passed phase 1 which means i made the top 20 percent of all those who entered. 40 entered and only 8 were picked to move on to phase two.

So what is my project?
I'm working with doctors around my area and we are creating an EMR which is an Electronic Medical Record system. Yes, i know there's a lot of EMRs on the market but this is why im in the competition. The competition is to reassure me and investors that this will work. So...to answer that question up there, i believe the FDA regulates what im doing with electrionic signitures and audit trails in CFR section 11. I also believe you're right about laying out the right requirements when outsourcing. When i talked to some people from india i felt a little unsure about the company.

Thanks again for all the replies.
