Who actually found Equilibrium good?

I thought it was decent, though some of it was too similar to the original Matrix - the fight in the hallway with pillars at the end - WTF?

The final battle with Taye Diggs was anti-climatic too.

its good, its entertaining, stop looking for that profoundness in the plot when there isnt one, because this movie was never meant to be mind intriguing, but it was meant to be entertaining. just sit back and stop asking yourself whats wrong with the movie and enjoy it.

I just saw it yesterday for the first time...it was awesome. Perhaps it wasn't MTV-rave-psychodelic enough to be classified as a "good" movie by today's standards.

That moive was so good!

It was like taking the best parts of all the old sci fi books, smooshing them into one movie, throwing in some really cool fight scenes, and making it into a movie!

That final gun duel was so cool! I had to watch it a few times.

The movie was nice and constant, some plot holes, sure, but who cares? What was not to like about it? It was a fun ride!

Plotwise - tired, "been there, done that" ad nauseum
Screenwriting - not bad
Acting - uninspired, not very memorable
Action - fantastic fight scenes but not enough of them.

Emily Watson = OMGWTFSOHOT!!!! 😀

Awesome movie, just watched it today for the first time. The symbolism is a bit blatant, but effective. It really takes a TON from 1984, Fahrenheit 451, but since I really enjoy those books, this movie was cool. If you were expecting another retarded Matrix clone (which I was expecting at first), you will probably be surprised.. I thought it was better than the first Matrix movie, myself. It could be that I'm sick of all the Matrix crap being shoveled down our throats nowadays, though.

Very good work for a fairly low budget flick. Too bad it didn't get more attention, but in a world where you have to compete with Vin Diesel grunting and sweating, Keanu Reeves being Keanu Reeves in tight leather, and Pierce Brosnan rehashing a tired franchise with excellent marketing, a lower budget movie, no matter what the quality, can't compete. Kinda sucks.

Really, the weakest point of the movie would have to be "Father" - the real one. I thought his acting was kinda blah. And how did he learn to fight? Was he a priest as well? The little Hitler-kid did an awesome job of creeping me out though, and Preston did a decent job as well. I thought the final fight between Preston and Taye Diggs was cool, myself. You just saw him kill like 7 guys with a sword, you think him clanging around with another guy is really going to be thrilling and amazing? I liked how it caught me off guard. And I can say, this is the only movie where I've ever seen someone's face cut off.

Cool movie for sure. The plot'll seem over the top and meaningless to anyone who hasn't read 1984 or Fahrenheit 451, probably. This movie seems more of a tribute to works of literature such as those, more than an original movie in itself.

Yeah, I started watching itwith low expectations, and having Bean reprise his Ronin role 😉 didn't help, but it just kept getting better. Many surprising scenes and <keanu> whoa! </keanu> moments. The fight choreography was different which was cool after having seen a thousand other HK and American action films.

I dont know which equilibrium you saw, but the one I saw was very good.

Reminds me of 1984

i thought it took too much from 1984. really just seemed like it compiled all the idea from the great works of dystopia but never really seemed to make them realistic.
i thought the final fight scene was pretty cool and i really like christian bale. (sp?)

I rented it after hearing good things about it here in OT, and I couldn't finish it. Sat through about an hour and a half of it, and couldn't take anymore. It seemed like a direct rip from 1984 and Fareinheit 451, but without anything original to make it stand out. I found the fight scenes extremely boring. Now, I like almost every movie I see, so I'm not one of these people who rip on movies to make themselves seem intellectual and avant-garde, but god damn, I hated Equilibrium.
