Media really going ape over this. She was a good singer, but seriously this is way too fvcking much.

Agreed. What does it say about a country when we idolize (as good of a singer as she was) ... a drug addict? Don't get me wrong ... she was good but this idolizing of a person who just happens to have a "skill" by the country (and the "press") is getting ridiculous.

They're idolizing her, not the drugs. Drugs aside there's only been 2 other females on the planet who've done more than her in music. And what the 3 of them did will never be surpassed. If this had been any other music artist it wouldn't be getting close to this level of coverage. She just happened to be a drug addict, but beyond that she's the 3rd biggest selling female recording artist of all time. And while I don't agree, many people say she's the best singer ever. With all the artists music has seen that's really saying something.

Thank you for proving my point. She's being idolized. If you can separate yourself from the glam she was a human being ... and she IS being idolized.

It's a part of human psychology ... retardation.

She's not being idolized for drugs though, she wasn't out stealing cars and robbing people to get money to buy Blow. Her drug use only effected herself, so she's being idolized for what she did in music. 99.999% of people didn't know her personally so the drugs should be of no concern to them. People bought her albums and knew her for her voice. And the voice is what they're remembering, and it's why people are still talking about how it's sad she's gone. And probably will be talked about for months to come.

Its kinda sad how someone dying can make the relevant again. After MJ died, I found myself going through my music collection and adding his songs to my list. Recently my latest hobby is portable listening. I have custom IEM's being made as we speak. I recently picked up a Cowon J3 PMP, and converted everything to WMA lossless. After Whitney died, I also went through to see what I have been missing. I now have 7 of her songs in my rotation.

Before her death, other than seeing or hearing about another incident with drugs, I never gave it a second though about how great she use to be. Now listening to her songs and for the most part all music through my PMP, I am very happy to be enjoying her amazing voice.

makes sense, watched a more recent bio of her and it seems she was a worse influence than bobby brown, she used drugs since she was a kid apparently.
