2003 = 12 years ago.

Also, Tom Cruise played a white American character, and Kensaku Watanabe was born in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. So I'm not seeing the whitewashing.

I agree, Tom Cruise didn't play a Japanese character. He played a US Civil War veteran.

Did you know: China is one of the biggest markets for Hollywood. Chinese law forbids distributing films that do not have a Chinese / Asian character in a prominent role. Most of major big-budget movies have Chinese / Asian characters specifically so they can distribute the film in China.

Why do people keep bringing up Nick Fury without mentioning Lex Luthor? Hasn't Lex changed race?

Also, in Batman (the Warner Bros animated series in the '90s), Harvey Dent was depicted as mixed-race or Latino or something. Not sure if he looked like that in the Frank Miller comics...
