Why always a white van, and why always speakers? It just doesnt make sense to me.

Very common vehicle, therefore easy to hide right out in the open. Cops would have to stop every white van or read the tag of every white van just to catch them

speakers are something not a lot of consumers have a lot of indepth knowledge about. you can't exactly test them on the spot, and it's hard to tell a good set from a bad set just by looking at them. all they really have to go on is the word, looks, and price. if they're able to convince the consumer that they're getting an awesome deal, they've done their job.
