okay first off,
why anyone would refer to anything as "ghetto"? it's ridiculous, but that is besides the point. I am a trainer for nextel (not sure if i mentioned that before). One of the white male New hires in my class refered to a store in my town as "ghetto" of course the african americans in my class took offense to this (which they should), and were threatening to take him outside and get to the bottom of what he thinks ghetto is.
Think about what you say people. When you call a ran down, poor neighborhood/establishment "ghetto" what are you really saying? Think about it.
especially if i'm your suporvisor at that moment, i have better things to worry about.
You are an idiot. Oh ya, and a bigot. I will attempt to waste little time outlining various ways...
1. You say 'white' people cannot use a word. That's offensive to white people while protecting the offense of black people. That's not in-line with the real intentions of political correctness.
2. You are ignorant to the origins of the word 'ghetto.' Ghetto has been used to refer to run-down quarters of cities where Jews and other minorities were restricted in the Middle Ages. In the US, it started in the late 1800's and early 1900's where mass amounts of immigration caused economic problems for large cities. These immigrants had their own culture, language, and very little money. Thus, it was necessary for them to band together in their own areas - often with entire families living in single rooms.
3. Meanings of words change. Gay typically means homosexual now. Ghetto colloquially means run-down. Everybody knows that - and so do you. You imply understanding what a person means when they describe a store as ghetto. Thus, you cannot claim ignorance to his use of the word.
Now, you are entitled to your opinions and you chose to voice them. However, I am entitled to mine - and my opinion is that you deserve ridicule for stating an opinion that is easily refuted, has no bearing, and incites racism in the name of prevention of racism. You need to think more.
