Most students have heard about the infamous remarks made by former N.C. State lecturer Kamau Kambon, who said of the oppression of black people, "We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet to solve this problem."
What most surprised me about Kambon's remarks, is that nobody was particularly upset by them. Yes, there was inevitably some anger and some controversy, but it wasn't that big of a deal. We white folk, for the most part, just shrugged our shoulders and got on with our lives. We were not hurt, nor afraid.
Whereas, if you made a similar remark about black people, the black community would be in an uproar.
The reason for this double-standard is simple: White people rule the country, and therefore can afford to laugh at the suggestion that they be exterminated.
However, my fellow white people, the right that we rule the country does NOT give us the right to look down on other races. The fact that your race is in power has nothing whatsoever to do with you, so get off your high horse and stop being racist. And black people, I'm sorry it's like this, but I, personally, view you as a person, no more and no less, and know many other white folks who feel the same. In my eyes you are a person first, and then a black person, and that is a fine thing to be, every bit as good as being white.
But the fact remains that white people rule the country. And as a result, the other races and nationalities, particularly those whom we have exploited with unusual vigor, have grown defensive.
White people preach "All men are equal" and "Equal opportunity for all;" yet proportionally four times as many black people are poor than whites. So naturally black people grow resentful and call us hypocrites. And of course they are absolutely right.
Black people have every right to hate white people. The unemployment rate for black people is twice as high as it is for whites. The average lifespan for the black male is 7.1 years shorter than the average white male lifespan. On the other hand, of the 312 billionaires in the United States, only two (Oprah Winfrey and Sheila Crump Johnson) are black.
These imbalances are no coincidence. They are a result of discrimination, of the natural desire of the white man to keep his team in the lead.
Black people have every reason in the world to complain. They have been torn from their native lands, enslaved, prevented from voting, forced to use unequal facilities, and even today are subjected to the constant prejudices of white people. White people, on the other hand, have no prejudice at all to worry about. Who's going to judge us? Other white people?
White people have nothing at all to complain about. And that is why Kambon's statements did not cause nearly the uproar which the statement "Black people should be exterminated" would have caused, even though there are six times as many white people as black people in America.
The truth is that Kambon's statement, harsh as it was, was correct. The extermination of white people IS the only way to end black oppression. So long as whites exist as a race, they are going to attempt to preserve their position -- which they are well-equipped to do, since they hold all the power in the first place. The black position is all but hopeless. All a black man can do is play the white man's game: try not to develop an accent, work hard in school and swallow all the insults and prejudice he encounters. And even then, he might not succeed; for the white man is family to the boss, while the black man is an outsider.
So the only general solution is, after all, extermination. Kambon deserves praise, for having the guts to speak the truth.
Am I arguing that white people should be exterminated? No. But I am arguing that white power should be done away with. And the only non-violent means by which white people can be forced to give up their power, is Affirmative Action. That is why I am strongly in favor of Affirmative Action; I believe that anyone who is not, is a supporter of the perpetuation of black oppression and therefore a racist.
All I can say is WTF!?!!?
