Mark Pasternak said he lost his state job helping troubled youths because he couldn?t stand working under a black boss who called him racist names like ?cracker,? ?polack? and ?stupid white boy.?

Pasternak was dismissed from his position as a youth worker with the state Office of Children and Family Services in 1999. But today, he feels some relief and vindication.

After a rare reverse racial discrimination trial in Buffalo?s federal court, a jury Tuesday awarded Pasternak $150,000. Jurors found that his former boss, Tommy E. Baines, discriminated against him racially and created a hostile working environment...

I don't understand why they call this reverse discrimination. How is it different from outright discrimination? When blacks commit racist acts, is it somehow different?

Anyway, I'm glad this guy got some justice. It's a shame, however, that this racist boss succeeded in stopping this man from helping children.

How can a black person be racist? America's entire society is focused and oriented toward oppressing and exploiting blacks, and when they act "racist" toward their cockasian oppressors they are merely acting with a shred of human dignity!

umm, thats not reverse discrimination, I dont know who classified it as such, it is plain and simple discrimination. Someone obviously doesnt know what reverse discrimination is.

Perhaps part of the widespread myth that only minorities can be the victim of discrimination. I blame the educators. I know, broad statement, but I grew up in an inner city school, they way they taught about racial issues was totally self serving and not at all about equality.

Wouldn't reverse discrimination be... like... not discrimination? Y'know... instead of using a racial slur you'd just call someone by their first name or something? Never understood that term.

It's reverse because blacks cannot be racist against whites.

Anyway, $150k is a bit much. The stupid cracker should have left his job a while back. I think honestly the guys making fun of him were probably right, since he put up with it for so long :)

The political correct people feel that white against others is racial discrimination

Therefore others against white must be reverse.

And some feel that this must be deserved and is not racial.

The questions now are what happens with his boss and does he want to go back to work helping the children?

Bull

Society 50-150 years ago may have been.

Not now.

It is the pseudo black leaders that continue to push such crap on the black society making them think that they are being kept down. It is for their own political goals.

It is becoming a perpetual negative circle - the blacks are being told that they are being mistreated; they believe it and bunker down into the us vs them mentality and then complain about the picture that they have drawn.

When the kids grow up with no expectation, it is not the "white" persons fault. It is the parents/leaders fault. And that generates the negative cycle.

Those that choose to not break out of the mold have no justification to complain.
Work is out there - it may take some effort - it will not be handed to them on a silver platter.
Education is the same.
Work + Education = advancement & better lifestyle. That becomes a perpetual positive cycle.

I have lived/worked across most of this country - city & rural. The majority of the "racial" issues are coming from those that want to act in a racial mode - by choice with their life style.

By definition racial discrimination is when someone has a position of power and they use their position of power to demean or control people of a different race. That is exactly what was going on. Basically this guys boss was just a nasty person who did not deserve to be in his position and should have been removed from his position by his superiors. If high level managers or department heads leave a racist or a bad supervisor in charge they are guilty of the same crime.

Some people who are minorities know that the white man is afraid to fire a black man. Therefore, they put up with thier bad attitude and bad conduct because they are afraid of a law suite.

This judgement is no where near high enough.

I've noticed that when blacks drop the thuggish attitude and demeanor that frankly frightens the rest of society, they have no problem being accepted as equals in various work places and social circles, and they succeed just the same. The first step any black person can take to succeeding in this country, no matter how educated he is, is doing away with any resemblance to the sterotyped thug. Get rid of the baggy pants, get rid of the diamond studs in their ear, and get rid of the thug talk. This image has been poisoned by the criminals that commonly espouse it. I've never met a successful black man that acts like this, and yes I know there are obviously exceptions everywhere. This is also why black women tend to be much more successful in life than black men, because black women arent saddled with the thug image.

There is no such thing as "reverse" discrimination. It's discrimination. Period. I want to kick somebody in the junk whenever I hear some ignoramus use that term. The only way you can "reverse discriminate" against a person is if you yell racial epithets at them while backing over them in your car.

Reverse discrimination is kind of like hate crimes...I hate to say it, but the rules of political correctness do not apply equally to white people and minorities...I partially blame the news outlets for how they portray these types of stories once they hit the media.

We are a society of double standards.

Yeah, that $2000 fine they gave him was just a pat on the back.
Ask yourself what would happen if the tables were turned...had this been a case of white on black discrimination, and the only penalty for the white supervisor was a fine, the NAACP would move in for the kill...followed by good old Reverand Al holding a press conference and a protest rally or two.

And you are right about that Starbuck1975 all hell would be breaking loose if it was the other way around. But hey it all looks like it worked out, at least he won.

Why are people taking issue with Termagant's post? I presume he was being facetious, though I know some people do think that, but most of them are impoverished bums sucking the welfare's teat and I assume he's joshing.
